Thank you for your kind words Skwire, Dune series always make me think.
As for your great software, I am using it all the time, but I never could find a good birthday reminder that was small, simple and that could just do one thing only without being bloated and RAM addicted. I will be grateful if you can implement the changes, but please do it only when you have time.
Thank you for all your fantastic programs.

Hi Skwire, Thank you very much for this little gem. I love it and I am using it a lot, but I am missing something that I am not sure if already exist: the possibility of keeping it minimised in the system tray and popping up a reminder when a birthday arrives ... errr... sorry, in fact I think I am asking you for two things I agree absolutely with the approach of keeping it small, so please take this in account if you decide implement these two things. Thanks a lot.

DonationCoder.com Software / ProcessTamer / Does Process Tamer run under Power Users group?
|
on: April 19, 2009, 02:08:15 PM

Hi Mouser, Trying to avoid the daily trillion billion threats to my loved computer, I've switched all my accounts to the Power Users group. I know ... I know ... that will not always save my skin, but at least I reduced some of the potential ones. Consequently comes the question: how about Process Tamer under this circumstances? I running it now, but I cannot open the main window or change any configuration. It is there in the system tray looking at me, and I looking at it . I don't know if that problem is caused by the change in the account or not. Just wondering... If you know how can I solve that issue, please let me know. I know that you are planning a brand shinning new version of Process Tamer . Can you test that new version under different user groups, please? Thanks for all your energy and time doing nice things to us. All the best, Muadib

I was not too happy with the tons of copies generated every day.
Complementing tinjaw reply, you can adjust FileHamster to limit the amount of copies you wish to keep. Above that limit, it starts deleting old versions. I use this approach together with the one cited by tinjaw. In my case, I've adjusted to not save within the period of 5 minutes. You can find these options with a right-click above the folder been monitored (inside FileHamster's main window), choosing "Options" and going to "MaxRevisions".

Thank you lanux128 and jgpaiva for all the information.
I've tried to turn off the AVG's Heuristic Analysis in the resident and scanning part, but this didn't solve the problem. I think I need to send them the file instead.
I'm glad for all your kind help, but can I ask one more thing? Can you tell me the URL where I can find the DimSaver's AHK code? So I can have a try compiling it.
Thank you again for all.

in the meantime try re-compiling the AHK source with the latest Autohotkey program and renaming DimSaver.exe as an SCR.
Thanks lanux128 for the advice. Even though I never compiled Autohotkey programs before, I would like to have a try. Can you tell where I can get the code, please? I've tried in the Skrommel's page without success. And if possible, maybe a link for a "dummy proof" step-by-step instructions of how to compile it? Thanks a lot.

Hi People, Once again AVG (7.5) is flagging DimSaver.scr as containing "Trojan horse BackDoor.Generic8.JOL". I know that is not true, but it's so annoying... Can somebody give an idea about how to tell AVG to ignore the file? I already have tried to move it to the Vault and tell AVG to ignore the file, but the resident part is still detecting and removing it form System32 folder... Maybe Skrommel can contact Grisoft to tell them to remove DimSaver from their list in the next update? Thanks.

what about british, american, australian english etc? Actually, there's a serious difference between portuguese and brazilian portuguese, that's why i said i can't do the brazilian one, recently i read a brazilian blog entry and wasn't able to understand much more than our fellow lashiec, which is spanish I agree with you jgpaiva. The Portuguese from Portugal and the one from Brazil are quite different in many parts, but its core is the same. As Brazilian I can assure you that I will be very happy doing the Brazilian version, but I have no clue about what I should do. If we are talking about the hangman list of words, I can do the translation from the English version. Please, let me know if I can be useful.

DonationCoder.com Software / Finished Programs / Re: DONE: perform random URL queries (Random Submitter)

Ok. I'm completely convinced by Scott about the importance of using RandomSubmitter (thanks mouser for another useful software ), but I have some questions related to its use, that I would like to show to you, mouser. Let's see: 1. Can you include, please, any additional information about the parameters in RandomSubmitter. Per example, in the existent README.txt you says "use $RANDFILE$ in url (or post, referrer) to replace with a random line from the Rand File.", but when I put $RANDFILE$ in the "Optional Post" I receive a message of "Error submitting to internet." in the log window. Am I doing something wrong, or it's necessary to include anything more? 2. Can you provide additional examples for using it with Yahoo and other search engines, please? 3. Is it possible to randomise the submittion, rather than having every exact X minutes? I read that Scott is running it through a script to have that, but I was wondering if it's too much hassle to do it in the program, instead? Thank you both for the idea (knowledge is power! ) and for the solution to the problem. All the best.

Hi Armando, I'm terrible sorry for my rude delay answering your reply, but I forgot to keep an eye on that thread, and I only saw it now. find the software I used two minutes ago. It Could be faster to me if i could find it in a easier way (a pop-up maybe?) in the FARR.
Thank you for this very helpful software.
I'm not sure if I understood properly... But here's what you could call a workaround : what I do to "find the software I used two minutes ago", is just make Farr display more results in the list ( max. entries to display in normal results list: 50 ; max. entries to display in extended results list: 70), set the max. files to keep in launch history to a relatively high number (300), and tick the box beside Blank search shows files from launch history. That way, when I blank the search field, I get a list of my previous run programs and looked at documents. I actually often use Farr (Find and Run Robot) as a history list. But, for that to work, you must use Farr to start… almost everything… Which I do.. : ) In the mean time, there is a software that probably does exactly what you’re looking for : TaskTracker. I’ve tried in the past, used for a while, and found that Farr + X1 was enough to track anything related to my files or software use. TaskTracker just added one more level of organization I had to think about… I didn’t want that. I'll try your technic until we have our FARR v2 out. Cheers.

I agree with Veign about the (easy) URL and I also have a suggestion:
How about including a link to the page in the top menu, or if you think that it will be too cluttered, maybe it can be in the home page, on the left menu. Yesterday I've spent ages to locate this page.
