1  DonationCoder.com Software / LaunchBar Commander / Re: Show us your LaunchBar Commander Screenshots on: January 20, 2012, 11:24:04 AM
Thought I would share this. I have found a way to get a centered dock
[attachthumb=#1]
I have LBC docked to the bottom of my screen and I have my  task bar set to auto hide.
The way I was able to center the icons on my dock was by adding blank command nodes before my first icon. I keep adding extra blank command nodes until my dock icons are centered. One problem some might have is the fact if you hover over those areas where the blank command node is  it will highlight the area breaking the illusion that it is centered.
[attachthumb=#2]
a screenshot of how I have the blank command nodes setup.

and two shots of my desktop one with my task bar active and one when its not.
LBC and  windows task bar seem to have problems with each other every now and then, resulting in the task bar not auto hiding. in this case you just right click the task bar and go to properties. Usually just doing that fixes it and I cancel out of the properties menu.
[attachthumb=#3]
I've integrated my start menu within my clock area thanks to a small app called LClock

2  DonationCoder.com Software / LaunchBar Commander / Re: A couple questions about Launchbar. on: January 19, 2012, 04:09:16 PM
I have but when I use it no matter if I dock on top,bottom,or sides the icons end up appearing over my taskbar or other relative important areas I need clear and  it makes it hard to see the icon. I've arrived at a happy medium for now with the location and size lol

again I thank you for your help and all the work you put into your programs

oh ok thank you smiley sorry about the picture problem and thanks for editing  them.
4  DonationCoder.com Software / LaunchBar Commander / Re: A couple questions about Launchbar. on: January 19, 2012, 01:40:44 PM
Question 1: Now  that I have been through the options and colors I think I'll have to use an image to get the launchbar to have the save gradient look as my windows taskbar. Problem is I'm not sure what size I should use for the image.
[attachthumb=1]
Question 2: I set both the folder shortcuts to command node but now nothing happens when I click them
[attachthumb=2]
Question 3: this problem seems to cleared itself up. It seemed to happend to my MS Word shortcut the most but after a restart its back to normal.
[attachthumb=3]
 I have  one other query. Is it possible to make the portion of the dock background that has icons to be a color while the unused portion of the dock background is transparent ? hopefully the screenshot will help show what I'm talking  about if not I'll try to describe it better.
[attachthumb=4]
Thank you for the help.
5  DonationCoder.com Software / LaunchBar Commander / A couple questions about Launchbar. on: January 19, 2012, 02:35:07 AM
I love the program and with the newest version docking has become great. I'm having trouble getting  LBC to act the way I want it and haven't been able to figure out a way to fix it.

I took a screenshot of my setup so the questions will make more sense lol.
[attachurl=#]

Question 1: I'm trying to get the  dock color to match the color of my taskbar but no matter what I change in the skinning options the color stays the same. Is it possible to get it to match ?

Question 2: The last two icons are folders, one for my downloads and the other for  my writing. How can I change it so when I click the icon  the folder opens instead of showing the contents like it was a menu?

Question 3: when I add shortcuts to the bar and save. when I try to click  on the icons to load the application nothing happens. when I check the path  it's totally different than what the shortcut is so I have to manually change. No big problem just wondering if it's a bug ?

Question 4: Can I make the icons bigger. I have them set to large right now.

thank you for making an app like this it's great

7  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Any way to embed a search box on the desktop? on: January 09, 2012, 06:21:13 PM
thanks for the suggestion. Installed it and tried it for a bit but noticed really high cpu consumption while running it and when searching it bogs my system down as well. Thank you for the link though I'll keep it installed just in case I can't find anything else
8  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Any way to embed a search box on the desktop? on: January 09, 2012, 04:44:37 PM
I'm looking for a way to place a small search box on my desktop(I want it so it's there but not taking up a lot of the screen) and I want it so what ever I search  in that box is limited to one directory.

Basically I want to be able to type in say an artist name or song name in the search box and either that song opens up in a  window or automatically plays in my default player.

I'm running Winxp, is there a small app that can help me achieve this ?

I have a small question about NetNotes.  I have several articles in a drop zone folder and Now I'm wanting to send them to different folders I have created. Is there a way to send multiple articles to a folder at once instead of dragging an article one at a time ?
10  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Need Help figuring out what personal wiki software fits my needs on: June 06, 2011, 09:55:50 PM
Spent the day using NetNotes and it's growing on me. It's not as fast as CintaNotes but it has more features. I like that  it has the option to style text. I've noticed a little delay when choosing fonts and switching from another program to NetNotes.

Barring any big problems this will replace CintaNotes for me on my desktop. Will keep CintaNotes on my external hard drive for when I need to use it on other computers.

@Steeladept That would be a big help if he is willing. I really would like to learn how to use TiddlyWiki because how portable it is just one file lol.

Thanks again.
11  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Need Help figuring out what personal wiki software fits my needs on: June 04, 2011, 06:03:34 PM
I'm wanting to start a personal wiki so all the notes I take and gather online using CintaNotes can have a final resting place.

My proposed workflow would be like this:
capture notes using CintaNotes then at the end of the week export those notes to a text file. Then from the text file I will copy and paste the notes in a personal wiki.

For the wiki I would like to have the main page consist of links(or categories) for example on of the categories would be GrammarGirl. When I click on that  GrammarGirl would be a new page where then the notes would be broken down by the date I captured them with CintaNotes.

Now I have tried:
Wikidpad: From the start I was overwhelmed and confused and even after reading the help files I was still confused put Wikidpad to the side.

Tiddlywiki: At first I thought Tiddlywiki would be perfect for me because its so simple but while trying to add/edit and format things I realized  things started to get deeper and more advanced and again i was soon lost.

then I found Zulupad: I like it. has features I need especially if I upgrade to pro with the addition to add images and etc. but in the free version I'm having trouble setting up like I mentioned above.

I need the help of you guys. Will Zulupad do what I need it to do or should I try something else ?
Thanks in advance smiley

what kind of AHK scripts do you use ?  What kind og style guides are you talking about? Those macros look interesting for sure and never thought a mind mapper could help me that much  but I'm open to anything so I think I'll try it out.

I got around to trying evernote. It's ok. I like some of the features but it just feels clunky to me. I wish there was a note-taking app that was simple like cintanotes but with the  enhanced text editing and the ability to add images.

so far from my testing it's hit or miss but it's also the best option I have tried. Maybe I have some settings wrong within the program making the output off.

Liquid Story Binder XE looks really complex but I'm intrigued is there ample documentation included with the program to help figure it out because  without that I can see myself getting lost quickly.

Chapter to Chapter would be very useful but I'm really opposed to using Word. Wink Might test it out and maybe it will grow on me.

I was told about a program called SuperNotecard. has anyone tried it? care to share your opinion on it ?

i thought evernote was just a web service ? I'll have to look into it. Backup isn't a problem for me I have a 465gb portable  hard drive for storing backups. Don't really trust cloud services but  I'll keep Dropbox in mind. thanks
20  DonationCoder.com Software / Post New Requests Here / IDEA: Script or software that scans lines of text and reports no. of syllables on: May 10, 2011, 02:34:07 PM
I've tried several services online that will determine the number of syllables within each line of text but most are not very accurate and I have to be online to use them.

What I'm thinking  is have the program load a .txt file of your choice(or copy and paste the text) then the program would determine  syllables in each line. In each line the syllables within each word will be shown  using  "|" and at the end of each line the number of syllables will be like this (5)

In a perfect world if it could mark stressed and unstressed syllables  by underlining or bolding the stressed syllable putting the unstressed one in italics. but I don't think that's possible. Heck maybe the whole thing  is a bigger feat that I'm thinking.

I've been wanting something like this for a while so that after i write my poetry  it quickly  denotes the syllables so next time I look at it I won't have to scan the poem myself.

Write Monkey is growing on me it really helps to keep me focused. and CintaNotes is amazing been looking for a note taking app like this for a while. Wish it had the ability to add styles to text like bold and italic. other than that it's great.  Thanks again
22  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Software recommendations for writers on: May 08, 2011, 12:40:27 AM
good suggestions so far . not sure which I'll choose between WriteMonkey or q10 or ImmersEd all three look good . will have to download them and test them out.

I like to write fiction: short stories, flash fiction, and poetry ( sometimes I write reviews)

I'm sort of bipolar when it comes to writing. I like to be organized but I tend to write  more when I  do "stream of consciousness"  when I try to organize I tend to get  too involved and spend more time organizing instead of writing. Also when I organize  it seems like when i do start writing, writers block soon sets in after a few paragraphs.

One piece of software I would love to find is  a meter and syllable counter for help me with keeping my poetry in check.

keep the suggestions coming. thanks guys!

I'm trying to focus more on my writing as of late and I find I get distracted  when I'm on  a pc that is capable of getting online. So I'm switching to a laptop for a while that has no way of accessing the internet. Any software(Preferably open source but I'm not opposed to paying for good software.) all the software must be able to run without an active internet connection though.

some software that could come in handy would be  an offline dictionary, and a rhyming dictionary if possible(I haven't had much luck finding an offline version.)

I currently have Storybook for planning stories and such. Mobysaurus Thesaurus(it works but on my main machine its  sluggish so I'm not sure if the laptop will be able to handle it)

and I have Abiword and Notepad++

Any more must have applications that I need to add ? any and all recommendations are welcome and appreciated.

oh crap thought I had the index cards and  the card holder in one of the pics. sorry for that. Never used index cards for getting organized but I do tend to use them when  coming up with short story ideas and characters.

check out your system and seems like something I could implement . again thanks smiley
