Hello steeladept,
Yes, there are two ways to do this:

1) Save your data within the Virtual Partition and

2) Save your data on an alternate partition

Most new systems, in the US at least, come standard with a single partition on the HDD. This is not the best setup if you want to have a more secure system, but most new/average users have no idea or interest in learning how to create logical partitions on their systems or how to use them if they did create the partition.

This is part of the design behind the VP as it offers a location to save files and data for those of us who are partition deficient...

Anything saved in the VP will remain after reboot with Protection/Session Lock ON. This is also true for any data that you save on an alternate data partition ( EX: Data drive D:\ ). To do this, simply select the VP ( Returnil Z:\ ) or your data partition when you save manually, or change the default save locations for your applications to the same.

Returnil believes its time to shake the tree!
June 20, 2007 Riga Latvia Returnil SIA

Today marks the beginning of real change in the computer security industry with the official release of Returnil Virtual System 2007. Out of frustration with current industry thinking and practice, comes a totally new approach to computer security that is efficient, effective, simple to use, and completely safe!

The message delivered by Microsoft late last year saying that Virtualization is not a mature technology is still ringing in our ears. Not because it is true, but because it attempts to introduce fear, uncertainty, and doubt that is not only unwarranted, but is completely wrong.

Industry giant Google appears to share our opinion of virtual solutions with their acquisition of Green Border Technologies. Moreover, from the 100,000+ downloads for our virtualization solution over a period of less than 3 months, while rising to the number one position in the top weekly download list at MajorGeeks.com, it is obvious that users want innovation.

Other providers such as Yahoo!, AOL, EarthLink, Symantec, McAfee, CA, and Trend Micro need to recognize this fundamental shift in paradigm and develop similar technologies or they run the risk of falling further behind in the global fight against Malware.

Because we believe so strongly in the effectiveness of our solutions, and the benefit they offer to average users, we are proud to announce that we are making the Returnil Virtual System free for personal home use on a single computer.

Introducing

• Returnil Virtual System Business Edition – Using powerful virtualization technology that clones your System Partition in RAM, Returnil offers your users the ability to recover from harmful or unwanted changes with a simple reboot of the computer; All this without sacrificing computer performance or usability while helping to reduce technical support intervention and the need for routine maintenance.
• Returnil Virtual System Personal Edition – Minus add-on utilities and with limited technical support, the Personal edition includes the same functionality as our business edition for Home users.

Though virtual technology has been with us for a long time now, it has not been widely recognized or adopted as a viable solution for the average computer user. This has led to virtual solution providers concentrating on complex testing environments for researchers, business-centric solutions that have no real appeal or use for the home user, or limit their approach to specific parts of your computer’s operating system.

Returnil Virtual System differs from every other product that claims to provide the same protection for these compelling reasons:

1. Faster, stronger, better – Returnil Virtual System uses advanced technology to clone your computer’s System Partition in memory rather than on a portion of your Hard Disk Drive. This not only introduces obvious performance enhancements, but also does its part in helping to reduce overall disk use and wear.
2. Our design philosophy – Simplicity of design and implementation is our core mission. We see no compelling reason why computer security needs to be complex in order to be effective.
3. Our commitment to the fight – We take this seriously. Our core values demand that we contribute to the fight against Malware, which is why we are offering Returnil Virtual System 2007 free for personal home use without any limitations in the software! Business, Government, Educational Institutions, and Non-profit organizations are still required to purchase licensing.

It is time to take control and leave the fear, uncertainty, and doubt behind. You deserve better from your solution providers!

We would like to thank everyone who participated in our first public beta and for making the process a resounding success. A special thank you to the members of the Wilder’s Security Forums and the testers from our Asian users community for their outstanding feedback and discussions about Returnil.

All users who purchased prior to the final release of 1.62 will continue to receive priority customer support through the end of their current registration period and will receive a free, one-year license for our latest product solution.

Instead of making a long post to reply to every question asked to this point, I think it would be of more use to reference the current discussions at the Wilder's Security Forums:
