Just thought I would throw WordTalk into the mix.

http://www.wordtalk.org.uk

This is a macro for Microsoft Word that shows a toolbar allowing you to read word, sentence, paragraph, selection etc. It also contains a talking spell checker and a thesaurus. Originally developed to help dyslexic children by a teacher in Scotland, and distributed free to anyone who wants it. I did hear a rumour that there would be a version allowing you to save output to audio file, but I don't know if that is the version available at the moment.

It also may be worth having a browse on http://www.oatsoft.org/ for other TTS programs...

you don't need it, it just provides a simple gui to interface with subst, plus you can have it restore the drives every time windows starts, which I don't think subst can do on its own... and its freeware, so you're not having to crack open your wallet either

Perhaps this would help?

http://www.ntwind.co...es/visual-subst.html

creates a virtual drive pointing to a folder - then you just need to choose the drive from the drop down drive list...

Coding Snacks / Re: taskbar at top annoyance - autohotkey to the rescue?
« on: September 03, 2007, 06:36 AM »
If it's any help, I use 'Sizer' from http://www.Brianapps.net and just have it move the window 'top left' which takes account of the taskbar. Very useful app if you're ever doing web stuff too for quick browser resizing...

Actually, just a plain useful app.

Skrommel's Software / Re: LabelControl

Hi Chrisk,

did you ever get a reply? I am looking to get more stuff "interactivated" with LabelControl. I tried a few of the window controls on Microsoft's MSDN, but I must have the wrong codes or something, 'cause it didn't make any difference...

Cheers,

Neel
