And even crazier...

https://torrentfreak.com/copyright-apocalypse-trolls-attack-the-net-from-the-future-140928/

Quote
COPYRIGHT APOCALYPSE: TROLLS ATTACK THE NET, FROM THE FUTURE

Imagine an Internet in which every possible creative work uploaded results in a copyright claim - because it's already been created. That's the nightmare scenario being painted by a Russian company which says it has a plan to use copyright and trolling to free humans from ever having to create digital content again.

...

That’s the staggering notion being put forward by Qentis Corporation. The outfit, which claims a base in Russia, says that its business model is to use massive computing power to generate digital intellectual property on a never-seen-before scale and transfer the rights to its partners.

...

What Qentis are proposing is the bulk algorithmic creation of content – music, text, images etc – on such a large scale that in a few years its clients will own the rights to just about anything people might care to create and upload.

...

In terms of graphics, Qentis promotional material states that a subsidiary has already generated 3.23% of “all possible images” in the 1000×800 pixel format.

So... Now we're calling out the bomb squad for litter bugs

It may have been mistaken for one of these aluminum Draino bottle bombs: http://www.snopes.com/crime/warnings/bottlebomb.asp

Much as I appreciate the vote of confidence, I gotta say - It's my home town - It really was just a bunch of dumb hicks having a Barney Fife moment.. ;)

Well, better for them to have their Barney Fife moment than some local pranksters actually make one of those things out of a plastic pop bottle, some Draino, water, a bit of candle wax and some aluminum, and for it to explode with someone a bit too close to it, and they end up getting sprayed with the Draino.

Because of prankster teens building these things and leaving them places for unsuspecting people to find, in some areas you actually have to show ID to prove you are over 18, to buy drain cleaner.  :o

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to notice that draino isn't a clear liquid. Not to mention that this thing was effectively in the middle of no where at that time of day. No this was a typically spastic hyper-over-reaction that is so idiotically common in our society today. Litter bugs aren't terrorists ... They're just really annoying.

Clear liquids don't tent to imply an impending (BLEVE) energetic reaction. First cop on the scene should have just kicked it over and tossed it in the trash.

Hmmm... Let me see...

If we dig down a bit deeper into SJ's post, I think we can find a hidden message...

Pulling out those we have:

And unscrambling SJ's secret message...

I am a terrorist.

I rest my case!

What an incredibly mind-blowing waste of resources on something that is obviously just carelessly discarded trash.

But, then again...yes it is that boring here ... In a town that is strategically relevant to abso- :) ing-lutely nothing.

Hehehe! I had a couple minutes, and it's an idea that I've been throwing around for a fun NANY project. (A program to do funky things with BBCode to decorate posts and just do cool stuff that would otherwise take way too much effort.

Code: (csharp)
        private void txtOriginal_MouseUp(object sender, MouseEventArgs e)
        {
            int start = txtOriginal.SelectionStart;
            int end = txtOriginal.SelectionStart + txtOriginal.SelectionLength + txtLeftSurround.TextLength;
            string s = txtOriginal.Text;
            s = s.Insert(start, txtLeftSurround.Text);
            s = s.Insert(end, txtRightSurround.Text);
            txtOriginal.Text = s;
        }

        private void btnPaste_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
        {
            txtOriginal.Text = Clipboard.GetText();
        }

        private void btnCopy_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
        {
            Clipboard.SetText(txtOriginal.Text);
        }

That was a lot easier than actually doing it manually.

I've never really been interested in Twitter, and so, being a bit "behind the times" I had missed these sorts of viral Twitters (below) - which make me interested. They seem to me to be an entirely new source of humour that couldn't easily have occurred in quite this way without something akin to Twitter as the medium.

@Renegade is to be credited with referring me to the first two, and I followed them up a couple of days back. I found some of the tweets quite amusing, but not a few seemed aggressive. I just stumbled upon the third today and had a LOL moment - it has many highly ironic, rather clever and very pointed comments there.

Maybe I am missing something, but what I don't understand is how people can possibly think it could be a good idea to put up self-promulgating hashtags like that. Fiasco time.
Derision is a great leveller.

Wraith, that's some combination of brilliant, terrifying, and something that she will either become a viral meme for, or be embarassed forever when she is 18!

Ah... got it. I knew that it was an image, but figured it was just posted in the wrong place and took it seriously.

So the Department of Homeland Security releases a Cyber Security Guide, that triggers a security warning on load:
