Screenshot thread!

[Gothi[c]]

So, here's a thread to kick off this new section. Post your OS screenshots! Use GNU+Linux, HP-UX, Plan9, z/OS, GCOS, MCP, *BSD, anything else? Share what it looks like!
Here's my humble contribution:

SGI IRIX:

Fresh install on an Indigo2:

Screenshots from my octane:

GNU+Linux:

4DWM running on GNU+Linux through X11 forwarding over SSH:

Fluxbox window manager on GNU+Linux:

Solaris:

Fresh install of Solaris 10 booted in CDE:

After some time messing with it, this is what it looks like now:

Great stuff  More screenshots please!

I'm Mr. Boring!

[attachthumb=#]

Linux Mint 15 Cinnamon running on a 'field' laptop with me "sitting in the lobby" and ditzing around while waiting for my appointment to come get me.

(Note the live wireless connection in the taskbar. I already cracked one of their poorly secured access points - which is what I've been asked to help them with. )

poorly secured access points - which is what I've been asked to help them with.

Since most wireless authentication schemes can be cracked in minutes with a bit of hardware, you're probably better of just running an ipsec vpn on top of it or something in order to access the network

I'm Mr. Boring!

I believe I can be even more boring.

Behold:

Ubuntu 13.04 with GNOME 3.8. I like clean desktop and starry wallpaper.

Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. Yes, I know it's (very) outdated but hey, I got this old MacBook for free, gotta make the most out of it.

Here's a fairly vanilla one

IRIX has a neat user interface. A pity that people today prefer weirdnesses like Unity.

Anyone of you tried OpenCDE yet?

[Gothi[c]]

I haven't tried OpenCDE but I have tried the actual CDE port to GNU+Linux.

The sourcecode for CDE has been released a while back, which has prompted some people to start porting it.
OpenCDE predates the opening of the actual CDE code iirc.

The source can be had here: http://sourceforge.net/p/cdesktopenv/code/ci/master/tree/

The porting to non-solaris platforms is still in a 'beta' stage, but it should be usable.

[Tuxman]

I tried building it on PC-BSD 9.1 a few months ago. I failed to start it. I guess there are still a couple of issues to be solved...

[Gothi[c]]

I failed to start it.

You should be able to. I know it runs fine on FreeBSD.
It is rather picky about certain things. For example, it won't start if your system hostname is not correctly in your /etc/hosts

[Tuxman]

Oh, it actually is.

Weird. I just followed the step-by-step instructions. I issued the command to boot up CDE and nothing happened. Not even an error. Hm.

[Gothi[c]]

You also have to make sure the dt folder is in your path. eg:

Code

PATH="$PATH:/usr/dt/bin" startx /usr/dt/bin/Xsession

There is a guide for FreeBSD here: http://sourceforge.net/p/cdesktopenv/wiki/FreeBSDBuild/

[Tuxman]

That's what I have followed, step by step.

Maybe I should try again tomorrow...
