Initial impressions: there's more clutter in the menu/toolbar area, and my DO9 toolbar icons have gained text that I had to dig about to get shot of: I think I'd have preferred it if the look had stayed very much the same and allowed me to add the new bits as and when. But hey, I'll get used to it.

I still don't think there's a file manager to touch it.

I don't know exactly how long the 40% offer will exist for but I'd be surprised if it was only for two weeks. A lot of people won't even realise Opus 10 is out in that amount of time.

The time limited 40% upgrade for existing 9 members.. um.. hello(?). Great way to show appreciation for your customers.

The license does not specify that the primary computer cannot be a laptop. All it says is that you can install it on one computer and a personal laptop for Home/SOHO use. So the first computer is a laptop, and the second computer is a laptop.

Last night, I sent an email message to the company asking how long the 40% discount offer will last. I got back a very prompt and pleasant response telling me that it would last for 6 months.

I paid $50 for Windows 3.1 sometime back in the 19th century. It is outrageous that Bill Gates asks me to pay again every time he breathes on Windows.

The real tragedy is that Australia was not in thrall to bankers, and has an economy that did not implode because Americans took out loans to buy houses that they could never afford to repay. So the Australia exhange rate is in the stratosphere, an Upus costs us foreigners more.

Then again, the rest of the planet has had to put up with rapacious American software houses that charge everyone else much more for software than they ask of locals. Nice to see this biting back the other way for a change. Pity the extra money doesn't reach GP Software.

I do like the "old-fashioned" way where you pay a set upgrade price from the previous version. So your upgrade price is valid till another new full-version is released.

But the times they are a changing - at least they're not charging per year.

I figure I spend more time with my file manager than any other program, so I'm willing to pay for the best. I've had a few annoyances here and there with past versions of DO that I had to fix through external programs, autohotkey scripts, and the like that DO10 seemed to fix.

I wish it was cheaper, but I'm happy with the upgrade.

I upgraded to DO 10 almost immediately after it was released.. hey, its several years since a major version was released,
and the What's New list is rather extensive.

It finally has copy queues for one (apparently someone suggested it 4 years or so ago, i.e around when DO 9 was released or so).
In my case there was some issues to with changing the gui colors as I like it, and some revised toolbars, but nothing really major.
Now if the foldertabs could be silver on black it'd be back to normal.

I think he means it is just eaten up by the exchange rate change. It is only the same number of Australian dollars for GP Software

DOpus 10 thinks that it means
C:\Documents and Settings\Godfrey\Art
not G:\Art

These were working fine in DOpus 9

Could someone be kind enough to check that out before I contact GP Software?

It is down to the change in exchange rates.

GP Software just charged me AUS$71 for a pair of licences. That comes in at around £41. (Still good value for three PCs.)

Back when I bought my licence, that would probably have been nearer £30.

I havent used aliases, but just made one - if I enter is as a lister path it tries to go to:
C:\Program Files\Directory Opus[\alias name here]

I never use aliases, but I tested the following, and it works if I type /umusic into the location bar. Note the forward slash instead of a backslash

Well, I took the plunge as well.

I bought it from the german site HAAGE&PARTNER (site & shop - both in english) with the added bonus of getting free SFTP & USB **
BE WARNED, my initial install was german, but then I used the german language shop. I dont know if the install from the english language shop is in english - but i suspect not. You then have to find the option to change language to English.

** I got these 'free' with the upgrade (but they dont know how long this will be the case), for a couple of euros more than the gpsoft price (i paid €40 - there's 19% vat also included in that price - I dont know if that's charged for all countries).
NOTE free SFTB & USB is only advertised for when buying 10 new - I asked about it for the upgrade, they said it's currently the case but they dont know for how long.
