I actually downloaded and tried Bvckup and I really liked it ! I find that for real time sync it works even better than other products like Super Flexible File Sync. It's fast, doesn't take much resource, etc.

The only problem is the VSS option to copy in use files. But the author told me that it would be implemented in the next beta. As soon as this will be available, I'll try it again.

It's a nice and well designed app. Not many features (it's not the goal here), but simple and efficient.

I looked at oopsbackup. I think the problem at the time had to do with restoring files : couldn't restore a few specific files. Only full directories or one single file at a time, did not tell how long a backup would take to complete, and couldn't have multiple backup sets.

Yep, the real time sync seems to work well in Bvckup. The Volume Shadow Copying section is currently greyed out in v1.0.0.359, but it's good to know the author has plans for this feature.

btw I only just realized the second letter of Bvckup is actually the Greek letter delta--as in delta copying. Duh...I've been using this program for weeks now and never realized.

I do LOTS of folder synchronization between numerous machines and USB devices and my tool of choice is Beyond Compare . I also use SyncBack Pro alot but for a fast simple sync of a few folders between two machines or a USB device and a PC, I usually just use Beyond Compare. Works great for me.

Synchredible looks like a nice freeware tool to synchronize two folders, also in (semi-)automatical way.

The page may turn up in German, but there is a button to select the English language as well.

Noone mentioned FastCopy - small, fast, unicode, supporting hard links, portable... copy/sync app. No whistles.

About SFFS being overkill, I don't think so. One doesn't have to set all options, basic default ones are already well suited to most tasks, it has also a rather unique feature I like a lot : when you move a file within source folder (from a subfolder to another one), then SFFS moves the same file in the same way on the destination without erasing it from the first location and copying it to the second.

MerleOne, glad to see you like Bvckup.

For a small program, it is amazingly efficient in terms of its features. Of course, there are more powerful/robust programs with more capabilities. And then there are even smaller apps with less features (see Mirror for example).

Bvckup seems to hit the mark for me.

Even though there's currently no documentation (AFAIK), I found the features easy to comprehend right away. The delta and realtime sync capabilities are very nice. Lots of potential here!

I hope to see an update soon. Seems the development has slowed a bit in recent months.

I'm keeping this portable tool as well. Even smaller than Bvckup (but without delta sync function). This app hasn't been updated in some time, but it works just fine as is.

Hard to believe such a small app can provide so many scheduling choices (ie. "timer sync" section) including realtime sync, but it works very well here. The preview mode is a nice feature as well--more sync tools should have this built in.

Anybody know this program named BK? It looks like a useful little backup tool comparable to Karen's Replicator. Not sure I need another backup/sync utility at this point, but those who want compression might check it out.

There's also SynKron which I also use and really like - particularly the possibility to set up different schedules for each backup job, I haven't found this in any other program yet.

I am a person behind Bvckup and I got quite a few hits in my logs from this thread. Perhaps this might be of some interest - I just released a major new version that adds Volume Shadow Copying support (x86 only for now) and vastly improves Windows 7 / Vista support with all their UACs, admins not really being admins, process elevation and what not.
