Author Topic: CD Earth picks up where ThinkAll left off (Read 31,538 times)

I wrote up a large blog post exposing a company called CD Earth, LLC which seems to be ThinkAll reopening their doors. This company is doing the exact same thing with the exact same software. Giving away free software for $2.95 shipping and shipping you extra CDs that if not returned in a prompt manner you will get charged $14.99/ CD for. Then you are agreeing to be enrolled in a Software Library Club where they will automatically charge you $5.95/CD to ship you CDs that you either have to return to them in a given time frame or be charged $14.99/CD.

This company is doing nothing more then preying on people and ripping people off.

My Blog post:

Digg It:

Lets get the word out and put a stop to this company.

In case anyone is in doubt of CD Earth being ThinkAll here is the LLC filing information:

Same guy named in a lawsuit by the FTC for ThinkAll.

So what can we do to get this guy shut down again?

Veign · « **Reply #3 on:** October 15, 2007, 01:25 AM »

Probably contact the FTC and let them know. Here is the FTC write up on ThinkAll:
http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2007/01/manay.shtm

Need to spread the word again. I have more information on another scam site by this guy that hasn't officially opened yet. I will be doing another blog post on this website sometime this week.

A$$hole... (the Thinkall/CD Earth guy, not you Veign! Thanks for alerting us to this

)!

Veign · « **Reply #5 on:** October 15, 2007, 02:07 AM »

Wait till you see the other website he has started but not yet fully released yet. Sickening and preys on the novice. I will do the blog post next weekend after I do more research.

Veign · « **Reply #6 on:** October 15, 2007, 02:26 PM »

The thing I can't understand is if you are being pursued by the FTC why open a new company in your name? You would also think the FTC would pick up on it.

Criminals is stupid.

tinjaw · « **Reply #8 on:** October 15, 2007, 03:51 PM »

Veign, I think what you are doing is a good thing. I should do more to help on matters like this, but I am going to blame it on lack of time.

Thanks for fighting the good fight.

Veign · « **Reply #9 on:** October 15, 2007, 04:57 PM »

Thanx TinJaw. Even more coming down the pipe on ThinkAll. Just need to get the word out.

Veign · « **Reply #10 on:** October 18, 2007, 02:27 PM »

Seems like the blog post is getting buried in Google and all the Press Release's released by CDEarth are taking focus. We need to get this on the first page of Google so users are warned about whats going on.

To do this consider adding a link from your blog back to the blog post. This will help keep in fresh in Google and spread the word.

if we can do what happened with ThinkAll where my blog post took over the number #1 spot in Google, then people will be warned.

Here's another company owned and run by the same guy behind ThinkAll and CDEarth:

Will you get what you pay for? Not sure and I wouldn't want to find out based on the business practices of the other two websites.

Chris - I am naive when it comes to blogging, and don't have a blog. Is there any other way that I can help bump your blog's profile?

Veign · « **Reply #13 on:** October 18, 2007, 03:19 PM »

The only way is to have backlinks with CDEarth in the anchor text. You can Digg it - might help.

Thanx!

Darwin · « **Reply #14 on:** October 18, 2007, 03:52 PM »

OK will do, Chris. Just waiting for my e-mail to be verified. As I am waiting for a human to respond this might take a bit of time, but it's on my to do list!

Darwin · « **Reply #15 on:** October 18, 2007, 06:28 PM »

Done! Apparently, I set up a digg account two years ago but had no recollection of it. All taken care of now. I hope you get a lot of response on this, Chris. I hate to think of people getting ripped off, especially if it can be avoided by getting the word out.

Veign · « **Reply #16 on:** October 18, 2007, 08:47 PM »

What's strange is my post is no longer in Google's Index. Blog backlinks will force Google to re-index it and hopefully we can make it stick.

We need to bury it at digg! >>> CDEarth has a new 3101 Computer Screensavers, Backgrounds & Wallpaper CDRom

Darwin · « **Reply #18 on:** October 18, 2007, 09:06 PM »

I added a comment, Carroll.

Deozaan · « **Reply #19 on:** October 18, 2007, 09:15 PM »

I also added a comment and clicked on the guy's profile and found he made another post about CD Earth on Digg.

What a scumbag.

Luckily no one else has dugg them as far as I can tell.

Veign · « **Reply #20 on:** October 18, 2007, 09:21 PM »

It would almost be good if it made the front page as the comments would be read by everyone.

He won't last. I'm sure the FTC will be on his case once people start realizing what's going on with the 'Free' software and start complaining.

The guy is not exactly bright, isn't he? He uses the same name as the collection he is digging, if it made it to the front page, people would bury it for blatant self promotion. That won't happen, Digg users are interested in more constructive themes... $:-\$

Darwin · « **Reply #22 on:** October 19, 2007, 07:08 PM »

I'm a digg neophyte - how exactly do you bury a posting? I'm keen to help!

Lashiec · « **Reply #23 on:** October 19, 2007, 07:11 PM »

It's right there. "Bury it", with a red cross, and the word "Bury" at the right side of the cross

Veign · « **Reply #24 on:** October 19, 2007, 07:38 PM »

I also thought that was

I also thought that was funny. I almost wish it would hit the front page. He would get ripped apart.
