thinBasic is a script interpreter with BASIC like syntax.

eros, i just love how you set up your site.
when you get a chance maybe you can tell us a little bit about what you used (i see you are using a version of phpbb for your forums), and how you integrated everything.. are you just using a standard content management system or have you done a lot of customization.  it really looks great, the menus, the sidebars, everything - just feels smooth and professional.

Re. Thin Basic, you say the beta is free but will expire. Does that imply that in the future it is going to be a commercial release? If so do you have any idea on what the likely price will be (ball park idea will do).

Well the site is not my creation but I've done a quite big job on web templating and site organization/design.

I'm using the following:

• CMS: PostNuke at www.postnuke.com version 0.750
• For menues I use DHTML menu from Sothink at http://www.sothink.com/product/dhtmlmenu/index.htm
  PostNuke has its own menu system but I didn't like.
• Forum is a PostNuke module from http://www.pnphpbb.com/. They keep synchronized official phpbb with specific post nuke one.

You will be able to find in PostNuke site all the information about this really good CMS.


thinBasic
thinBasic will be free.
We have introduced an expire date because we are at the very beginning of the project.
There will be numerous updates and we do not like to have around old thinBasic version maybe with bugs or missed functionalities.
So, for the period thinBasic will remain in beta stage we will always leave an expiry date.

There will be a commercial part of thinBasic but now it is premature. Mainly this will be around embedding thinBasic in 3rd party application as application script engine.
Also we will release in one of the next version an SDK interface that will allow development of personalized thinBasic modules. Modules are one of the core part of thinBasic. The idea is more or less the same as php modules/extensions.
Latest version have fixed some bugs but mainly we have improved execution speed and general runtime performance by a factor of 2 compared with previous version.

Hope someone will have some spare time to download thinBasic giving a try and reporting impressions, comments, or bugs found.

one of the members of this site, skrommel, is a scripting genius.
he uses and is very fond of AutoHotKey,
but he might be able to give you some general suggestions or a list of features he thinks are important, etc.
his views would be very helpful to you i think.
