How to catch video URLs at http://uk.music.yahoo.com/musicvideos/

The only URLs that seem to be caught don't produce a file to download. Am I missing something?

[mouser]

i couldn't get those videos to play at all, so i didn't really have the opportunity to try to find the urls.
the best place to get help on downloading specific urls is still the streaming media recording forum:
http://p084.ezboard.com/fstreemeboxvcrfrm4

just a reminder to veblin: if you ever want to merge those forums into these just say so.

[Carol Haynes]

Thanks I'll head off over there then

Hello Carol,

I visited http://uk.music.yahoo.com/musicvideos/ and URL Snooper found the music videos. For example, from the

Country Music section I downloaded  Tim McGraw's  'Don't Take the Girl'  found at  mms://dalwmod044.bcst.yahoo.com/pub06root5/Pub06Share19/__S__/LAUvswm9/8/6380721.wmv

You may wish to use Windows-Media-Player to view and GetASFStream to download to your drive or stick.

Regards.

[Carol Haynes]

Thanks - that has solved it.

GetASFStream is not exactly a user friendly app though is it ?

[Trevor]

Yes GetASFStream is not very friendly.

Until you become acquainted with the more advanced features...just paste the URL obtained from URL Snooper... do not check URL manually... do not check MMS protocol... click on EXEC.  Download should start.

If download is interrupted... click YES on resulting box. Download should resume from the point it was interrupted.

GetASFStream has the ability to download .asf    .wmv    .rm    .mov  files and more.

To avoid a lot of the cutting and pasting you may even wish to run it from URL Snooper.

Regards.

[Carol Haynes]

Thanks - I have got that working now. Any idea how to specify an output file name to GetASFStream ??

Cheers

[Trevor]

For more information on File Name Generation by GetASFStream ... Click CALL... then click File name.

For easier-to-use stream recorders you may visit: http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/record-streaming-video-windows-media.htm

Yes I tried that link - but the link for the one they consider best (WM Recorder) seems to be broken? I just get 'connection refused' so it could be an ISP thing I suppose.

I am just going to try SDP Downloader. Have you given any of the other free apps a go?

[mouser]

you should also check out the faq at streaming media recording forum:
http://p084.ezboard.com/fstreemeboxvcrfrm7

it has good lists of software for recording various formats, including this really nice annotated list made by veblin:

[Carol Haynes]

Thanks Mouser.

I have just tried SDP DOwnload 2 and it is really neat. Much easier to use than GetASFSetream and it is free.

See http://sdp.ppona.com/ for details and download link.

if you like to do scheduled recordings (like daily radio show), i've found net transport (shareware, http://www.xi-soft.com/default.htm) to be extremely good.
