Sony in trouble - again ... this time the Church of England is gunning for them!

[Carol Haynes]

Sony have managed to offend and annoy the Church of England who are now threatening to sue them ...

Something makes me think that if it was a movie or book that involved people fighting aliens in the cathedral, the Church of England wouldn't have been worried about it.

The Bishop probably just heard second- or third-hand about the cathedral being in the game and jumped to conclusions. He probably has no idea, nor cares to take the time to research, what the game is about or under what context the cathedral is being used.

Science fiction is clearly not reality.

I think the issue is more likely to be money dressed up in religious hypocrisy! Sony apparently didn't ask permission to use photo-realistic images of the interior of the cathedral - I'd guess that having sold over 1,000,000 copies of the game the bishop is actually angling for a share of the profits (and failing that he will self righteously threaten to force Sony to withdraw/modify the product).

Westminster Abbey wouldn't allow images to be used in "The da Vinci Code" because it challenged religious authority but Durham was fine with the witches and wizards of Harry Potter!

Way to call it, Carol.

My comments must have had divine intervention ....

Now back to the atheism!

Sorry, I can not go that far...A human error (or humanity's errors as the case may be) does not invalidate the creator any more than a system error invalidates the programmer.  That is as far as I will go with this thought here though...

I was tempted to say that the Bishop of Manchester must be a real profit.
