This might be a must-visit site if there's no hidden catches..

Welcome to Giveaway of the day project, the new initiative in the software distribution world! Every day we offer for FREE licensed software you’d have to buy otherwise!

Our new initiative, Giveaway of the day, is finally open to its visitors and ready to present hot software titles and best software authors from all over the world. We wish you a Happy Giveaway!

Giveaway of the day is a win-win solution for both publishers and clients
The idea behind this initiative is that many sites and publishers offer trial downloads; but only we offer giveaway downloads. What does that mean?

Basically, every day we nominate one software title that will be a Giveaway title of that day. The software will be available for download for 24 hours (or more, if agreed by software publisher) and that software will be absolutely free. That means - not a trial, not a limited version - but a registered and legal version of the software will be free for our visitors*.

The software product will be presented in its full functionality, without any limitations save for those mentioned in Terms and Conditions.

The download link will remain on our web-site for the agreed period of time, together with the review of the software product and the information about other products from the software publisher presenting the giveaway title.

Both reviews and the information on the product line will remain active even when the Giveaway period is over.

Hi,

Thanks for the info. I did have a quick look at it. There are some limitations in this free version, some quite annoying like the lack of directory synchro. I installed it on several PC. On two of them I had a serious error at first launch, saying some dll was missing, and also a memory protection error on one of them. On second run it finally launched OK.

Anyway, as I said, for a free product, it's still interesting looking at it.

It is a really nice site. Thanks peteg05 for the link.

I've been going to the site daily ever since I first read your post about two weeks back. I also have gotten every daily release there in that time. Only one program(a screen-saver) that I downloaded from them gave me a problem. Everything else works great.
There are no "hidden catches" and the software is good quality but sometimes has a suppressed feature. All of the suppressed features in the software products are very minor ones, ones which I sure do not miss.
The known "catch" is that the software has to be downloaded, installed & registered within their given time period. The time period to accomplish this is always 24 hours and they say sometimes more, but I have only seen 24 hours allocated thus far.
The only downside to this approach is, if I re-install my OS I think I will most likely lose my registration to all the software I have gotten from them.

Five days ago, I finally registered there. I have received only one email from them since, a confirmation email. Along with that email they sent me a super duper bonus link http://game.giveawayoftheday.com

The games are similar to BigFish/PopCap Games in type and quality.

I love 'em

Thanks very much,

WL

GOTD is expired?..

Hello everybody,

we are aware of the situation with Giveaway of the Day site and are sorry for the inconvenience. Our domain record domain was supposed to auto-renew but failed for some reasons that have yet to be investigated.

Let us assure you that domain has successfully been renewed, still the system needs time to get the site back to proper work.

For those users who still experience problems with access to GOTD, please stay on-line or try to reach us in several hours. We will finally be back!

Have a nice day!
GOTD project team

indeed

Yeah, I saw that as well - I noticed it initially because Ad-Muncher started blocking the site this morning, well, the re-direct anyway...

Ad-Muncher is still sqwaking about it... Even after I set it to ignore the site (I've even rebooted since then; no joy).

BTW the site domain is still showing up as http://www.searchnut.com...

Site's finally back up (actually, I was able to access it from about 8:30 PM PST last night). Giveaway for today is Zentimo

Was there ever a small window of time when someone else could register it?

~~Do you mean Zentimo? I successfully registered it around the time I posted about it, above. Or have I misunderstood you?~~

Ah... you meant the giveawayoftheday site name...

I wonder if they will run Monday's History Explorer offer again. I, for one, never got the chance to get it. "This giveaway is not available any more" - hopefully they don't mean it too literally!

Also, I am a little mad at myself. I won DC's previous drawing, and was given the choice between a lifetime license for USB Safely Remove or 1 year's license for Zentimo. I clicked 'Zentimo', but today Zentimo is free for everybody, and I wish I had clicked a lifetime license for the other one instead. Zentimo is overkill.

Darwin · « **Reply #17 on:** November 03, 2010, 07:36 PM »

Well, don't worry feel too bad, Curt. The giveaway does NOT include an update to 1.1, which is due out next and which apparently fixes some issues in Vista and Windows 7:

Quote

the native Windows Safely Remove feature cannot stop device and spine down the hard drive with power off in Windows Vista and 7. We’ve resolved that problem in Zentimo 1.1 final. At this moment Zentimo can switch hard drive power off and spin it down after its safely remove in Windows Vista and 7. I hope we will released Zentimo 1.1 final next week.

For myself, I purhcased a lifetime license for USB Safely Remove a long time ago and love it I have Zentimo activated, installed, and running and I can see things that I like about it. A lot (displays a lot of useful info about my USB devices for a start). I have the option of a very chea upgrade with two years updates to Zentimo from USB Safely Remove and simply can't decide if I really need any of the extra functionality. Time will tell - I need more free time to explore the differences/additional features. That'll have to wait until this evening or tomorrow.

Let's move further discussion of Zentimo to this thread: http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/zentimo/

Yes sorry I meant the site name. I was remembering the times when people would try to jump on expired domains (some still do)
