SpeedReader-Web -- (free)
« on: September 17, 2026, 01:13 AM »
First attempt at a web app.  Check it out if you want.  I've tested it on Pixel tablet, Pixel phone, and Chrome browser on Win 10.  It seems to work well.  The original is SpeedReader.ahk, also in GitHub.  I wanted a version for my tablet, so Claude lead me here.  I have to say, it seems pretty nice.  I like using it better than the ahk version now.

The link to launch the app is here
https://kunkel321.github.io/SpeedReader-Web/

And the repo is here
https://github.com/kunkel321/SpeedReader-Web

The repo has directions for installing the app.  It can convert epub and pdf files into text files for use.  Of course the conversion doesn't work as well if there are graphics, etc in the ebook.  If it is DRM protected you probably won't be able to convert at all.  Note that the converted text files are stored with the SpeedReader-Web database stuff in your browser, along with all the other junk that your browser saves.  There's not really an "uninstaller" other than clearing your browser junk.  Swipe left/right to change reading speed.  pdf.js and the Carlito font were obtained legally online.  The rest is original code.

fyi there is an AutoHotkey forum thread here

The web app uses no AHK code, but the original speedreader.ahk app does.
