Software to send email when a folder content changes

[cettolox]

Hi,
I am searching for some simple software (like AHK script) that polls a folder content and sends an SMTP email when it changes, notifying me which files are added/removed/changed.

I came accross "Always Watching" http://www.liquidmirror.com/alwayswatching.asp that seems to do well its job, but I was wondering if anyone of you use some other software to accomplish this task.

Thanks,

/Stefano

This isn't a complete solution (rather a lot of assembly required)  but you might try looking at LOGMON.  It's been mentioned in these two DC threads:

DONE: Backup My TXT Files Everytime I Save - AKA incremental saves / wiki(-like)

I don't think it e-mails you directly, but as it can execute an external program, you could use something like the command-line e-mailer BLAT to send a list of changed files or whatever.

Both LOGMON and BLAT are free.

Perfect Thanks, I'll use LOGMON+BLAT

I don't know if this software has been mentioned in the other thread... Monitors up to twenty folders and displays a message or sends an email.

http://contactplus.com/products/freestuff/monidir.htm

Ratedby ZDNet! For Windows 9.x/ME/2000/NT. This FREE useful utility can help you to stay abreast of changes (file additions, deletions and changes) that occur in folders on your computer, letting you specify up to 20 directories to monitor, including your network drives. Great for System Administrators!  Your files are monitored in real time.

This File Monitoring software is totally free.  There are not time restrictions, function restrictions or nags.

As any changes occur to the contents of these folders, a popup screen will notify you of the change. The popup screen can also play an audible alarm, such as a WAV file. Email notification is also available to keep you informed of changes on network drives. You can select the time interval, in seconds, for MoniDIR 2000 to use to check the directories. The monitoring program resides in your system tray and becomes active only when the timer starts the program. When active, the file monitoring program will display the files that have been added, deleted, or changed.

This program sends the actual file by email when its changed, not just the title.

You could try 'BEEE'.
I used this for about 2 years, staff would scan a documenmt at the workshop, the resulting PDF was auto saved to a Folder.
BEEE would check the folder every 'X' hours and email any new or changed files to the office. (Office and workshop now in the same location.)

http://www.iopus.com/freeware/beee/

Easily email multiple files and/or entire folders
Run multiple instances of BEEE at the same time
Run BEEE in the background (from your system tray)
Command line options allow for easy integration with most application software that can run executables (e. g. task schedulers)
Build-in ZIP compression, encryption and password protection of the attachments !
Email indirectly via MAPI enabled email clients (e.g. Outlook, Outlook Express or Eudora)
Specify individual email addresses for each file within the file name!
Send to email lists, e.g. to automate dispatch of newsletters
Free for private and commercial use !

Requires a little tweaking, but once running, never had a problem.

i think dB and db90h are the same person with split personality.

[db90h]

My personality forks, not splits ;p

np.

the db stands for doublebogey, which reflect my standard at the game of golf.
@mouser, can you change my nick to doublebogey.
never mind, found it.

doublebogey

PS . I have about six personalities on the golf course. just like everyone else that plays.

[mouser]

doublebogey, we love db90h but don't feel like you *have* to change your nickname here if you don't want to - db90h was just being his normal gruff self.  if you don't mind changing it, that's fine, especially since i'm used to calling db90h by "db" in the irc channel, but don't feel pressured into it.

[db90h]

Yea, I was just joking ;p. Don't change your nick on my account, I have no problem with it.

And what does gruff mean? i gotta look that up...
