video manager / viewer which will show 4 or more images from the video

[anandcoral]

I am looking for a video manager / viewer which will show 4 or more images from the video as thumbnail.

I want to glance at the directory full of videos of last few years and save or delete them without the need to run each and every one to see what it was for.

Any suggestion ?

Anand

That's a really nice idea -- let us know what you find.

Perhaps if you can't find something that can do exactly what you want, an interesting alternative would be a utility that could BATCH CREATE an image file for each video file, which was an image that showed a grid of images from various times in each video.  Such a program probably exists, though it wouldn't be too hard to make a new one..  Too bad NANY 2018 is so far away

When I last ran Picasa (Sunset version), I noticed that it did thumbnails for my videos like that. It was new to me - but that's because I would not have noticed when they introduced that as I usually only use Picasa for still image management (at which, it is excellent). Quite useful, I thought. Not sure if it does it for all video types though.

CORRECTION: Oops, sorry. Disregard what I wrote above. I was mistaken. I just went and quickly checked Picasa. It only does one thumbnail for each video - not several. The one it does may vary though - i.e., not always the same. Have not exhaustively tested it.

Thanks a lot Curt

All I got youtube or online thumb making etc. in my googling, before I put the query at DC.

This fills my requirement and mouser too, I hope

It's always a mixed feeling when we find a program that solves a problem.  I feel good that the program exists and I don't have to write it myself.  And I feel sad that there is no excuse to write it myself

@Curt: Nifty find. Thanks. I could use that now I know it exists.

On second thought, you should be even more satisfied with
Movie Thumbnailer from http://moviethumbnail.sourceforge.net/
or
AMT – Auto-Movie-Thumbnailer from https://funk.eu/amt/

I am surprised how advanced they all are, being freeware.
