time to accept it...
« on: June 05, 2006, 02:09 PM »
"Procrastination is not a problem of time management; time-management skills won't cure it."

taken from the article: http://www.psychologytoday.com/rss/pto-20060324-000001.html

the above quote doesn't bode well for all the procrastinators on this forum - especially with all the time management programs being tried out.

we're all doooooooooomed.

Did I just read the same article? ;)

The article is nice, let me quote some stuff:

Quote
For Peter as for many others, procrastination was an almost natural outgrowth of perfectionism
So true... perfectionism = evil!

Quote
The greatest boon to procrastination is the online chat room, Knaus observes.

Part of the solution:

And follow the 10-minute rule. Acknowledge, "I don't feel like doing that," but do it for 10 minutes anyway. That gets you over the hard work of initiation.

"Procrastination is not a problem of time management; time-management skills won't cure it."
Your quote here was a good example of what happens when you leave out the important part: :D

Procrastination is not a problem of time management; time-management skills won't cure it. But procrastinators do underestimate how long it takes to complete tasks. So cut yourself some slack and build in to your schedule 20 extra minutes between tasks. You'll get more done; you'll like yourself better—and so will everyone around you.

Saved! :)
Thank you.

i think i must suffer from some form of selective blindness because i know i read the whole article but those last few sentences didn't even register on my brain until you pointed them out.

Why would you want to get more done? What is wrong with you people?

good point.

but it looks like you either reach a zen like state of contentment or suffer under the delusion that there are actually tasks to be done.

i'm borderline zen/delusion.
