what does this say?

[kalos]

hello
any english native speaker to tell me what she says in this call message?
http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=97434584879865088156
thanks!

[tomos]

I remember you did this before. And neglected to tell us in your request that you only needed one aspect of the message (cant remember was it name, or number).

So this time, I'll ask beforehand: what do you *need* to know here?

[x16wda]

So it sounds like Janie is calling regarding a position you have applied for.  She would like you to call her back at 1-865-826245 in regard to something on the 26th of March at Prompt Wyndham.  Be there by 7:45 for an 8am start, the session will last until 12:30.

Everything else she said was actually gibberish.

Whatever that phone number is, as written above it's missing a digit!

thanks but the number must be British!

[tomos]

01865 [+ sounds to me like] 836345

but x16wda says 826245....

[edit] if you applied for a job there, you must know the area code (at least)? (that's Oxford) [/edit]

[x16wda]

The name might be Jadie, actually.  And the place could be Pox Wyndham - hard to say.

On yet another few listens I'll still go with the twos in the number... that said, just because everything else is gibberish, that does NOT indicate that it's not ALL gibberish...

(Note that I have the ear of a native American English speaker, of which this ain't!  )

Good afternoon, my name is Jodie.  I'm calling from the equipment team at the Entity(?) Group, Plant Swindon.

Just giving you a call back since your application to the apprenticeship program.

If you can call us back please on 01865 826245, we thought you might like ... would like to invite you a ?????????????
on Wednesday the 26th of March at Plant Swindon.  Please be at reception at quarter to eight for an eight o'clock start.  You'll be with us until approximately half-past twelve.

You've applied for the Engineering Maintenance and the Engineering Technician position ???????????????????????? control.  So you may like to do some research so you're prepared for that.

We will also send you a formal email invitation next week but in the meantime if you could confirm your attendance that would be much appreciated.

Many thanks, bye bye.

English people really need to learn to enunciate better, not everyone on the planet talks at 78RPM

If you get the job, my fees are %10 gross.

[Giampy]

English people really need to learn to enunciate better

Is that a widespread matter or is that limited to few cases?

I've found it to be reasonably widespread, (your normal person in the street), I'm kind of used to it now.
My wife, (English), said that one of the things she noticed when she came to Australia was that everyone talked slower than what she was used to.

Back to the OP, dropping the audio into Audacity, reducing speed by 15% and adding a bit of bass made it a lot easier but still the person speaking ran a lot of her words together.

~one of those weird situations where I could only open the target link in Internet Explorer, because Firefox wouldn't recognize it as something to download (not ".mp3" but ".htm").

I agree with the important parts of this interpretation:

call us back on 01865 826245, and at Wednesday the 26th of March be at Plant Swindon, at reception at quarter to eight for an eight o'clock start.  until approximately half-past twelve. /Jodie Evans

The involved phones are suffering from lack of sound quality, and her pronunciation is a little sloppy. However, at the same time I would say her English is fine, but that of a young mind; not really concerned with the other part...

Are you ready to face death, kalos? We all know there are more murders happening in and around Oxford than anywhere else in the world! Are you going to kill, to manhandle a BMW?

Was that too much?

[kalos]

"We all know there are more murders happening in and around Oxford than anywhere else in the world!"

it's the first time I hear such thing

[Curt]

Columbo, Quincy, Perry Mason, Jim Rockford and Jonathan & Jennifer Hart all hunted killers, really many killers, in Los Angeles. But Oxford is so much smaller than L.A. that the murder rate per capita is much higher in Oxford. In fact there were so many murders in these areas that TV series were made about it. Detective series.

Come to think of it, Cabot Cove in New England (USA) may have had even more murders. They were all solved by an amateur detective named Jessica Fletcher. My mother liked her, but I liked the British detectives better.

Television detectives, kalos. Made Up television detectives.
