I found a way that I can upload to Picasa/Google Photos. I know it is not a typical image sharing site, but I may be able to upload to google docs/drive also.

Oh! That's great! Thanks for looking into this. Question: when one has a link from Picasa or Drive, can one link directly to the image, so as to directly display the item in, say, a forum post that supports it?

c.gingerich · « **Reply #52 on:** March 11, 2014, 05:35 PM »

I think so. You have to share the image/file then you should be able to do that.

Cerberus™ · « **Reply #53 on:** March 11, 2014, 07:58 PM »

Oh, that's promising! If we can use a different Google account for that, it should be anonymous enough for those concerned about their privacy (so we wouldn't have to post all images linked to our main Google account that's open in the browser: if we did that, all of our forum posts would directly lead to our real e-mail/name).

I could be wrong, of course, but I had gathered that - post g+ - the Picasa storage was to be or had been merged/aggregated with Google drive. I have assiduously avoided g+ so am probably not in a good position to test this, either way.

Cerberus™ · « **Reply #55 on:** March 11, 2014, 09:25 PM »

Yes, but if you make a new account for this here program, the whole problem can be avoided. You can make it anonymous and block all anti-privacy options and such.

I wouldn't be too optimistic about the future of google and anonymity. Judging by their approach to YouTube/g+ anyways.

Ok. I found a better service. I can connect to http://imgur.com so I am going to use that. It will work better with my application as you do not need to share the image files and I can save the URLs just like I was able to do with imm.io. I am going to start working on it as soon as I can. My life got very busy over the past few weeks but I'll do my best.

Cerberus™ · « **Reply #58 on:** March 12, 2014, 06:04 AM »

Yes!! Imgur is very good in my experience. I used to use a similar program that depended on Imgur, and Imgur was definitely not the weakest link there. I'm really looking forward to a new version of ICUP. But no hurry! All this you're doing is a favour to the Internet, and we will absolutely understand if it takes a while (or if you never get to it, even).

c.gingerich · « **Reply #59 on:** March 13, 2014, 01:33 AM »

Ok. It did not take that long to add Imgur.com support. The beta version is available for download at http://icup.pen.io.

Please give it a try and let me know what you think and please report any bugs.

Thanks!

Wow, it works!! Thank you so much! It's really cool and convenient, I will use this every day. And you were so blazingly quick!

One small thing: it automatically installed the entire program to Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\ICUP on my Windows XP. When I changed the hotkey, I got some error messages. The location seemed odd anyway, so I moved the program by hand to Programs\ICUP, and then the errors stopped; now it's working perfectly. So perhaps it was looking for the .ini file in the wrong location?

c.gingerich · « **Reply #61 on:** March 13, 2014, 04:36 PM »

I'm glad you like it, thanks!

Yeah. I have it "install" there b/c it is easier. I may change that and make a full installer once I take it out of beta.

Cerberus™ · « **Reply #62 on:** March 13, 2014, 04:59 PM »

If others don't get the error messages upon changing the hotkey whole keeping the program in \Application Data, then perhaps it is a peculiarity of my computer or of Windows XP. It doesn't matter much anyway.

I think I am going to be making it a complete portable app now. No install at all and all data is saved in the same location as the main EXE.

Cerberus™ · « **Reply #64 on:** March 13, 2014, 05:33 PM »

Sounds OK. We can make a shortcut in Programs>Startup ourselves. You could use one of those programs that automatically create an installer, though, and store everything in %PROGRAMFILES%\ICUP . It's awfully convenient for new users to have everything set up automatically. But it doesn't really matter that much either way, I'd say.
I have used Inno in the past and it worked great: http://www.jrsoftware.org/isinfo.php

Ok. New version 2.0.1.0. Now should be completely portable, no install. I even added an "Add to startup" (and "remove from startup") tray menu item.

Please give it a try and let me know any feedback. :-)

Cool! It all works as it should, I'm happy.

c.gingerich · « **Reply #67 on:** March 21, 2014, 01:32 PM »

Small update. 2.0.1.1 - Added an advanced feature (only can be set through the INI file) that allows you to upload the screen shot to a specific album on imgur.com. Please see the Advanced section on the http://icup.pen.io page on how to do this.... oh and also download the update. :-)

Cerberus™ · « **Reply #68 on:** March 21, 2014, 02:17 PM »

Cool idea. I'm afraid it doesn't work for me, though. I have downloaded the latest version from your site, shut down the old version, replaced the .exe file on my computer, specified the album in the .ini file according to the instructions on your page, saved the file, and restarted the program. But, when I capture an image, it is uploaded to the default location on Imgur, not to the album I specified. I have no idea why (and to be honest this function wouldn't be a priority for me hehe—I just thought it would be fun to test). This is my .ini file (I have censored the tokens for this quotation):

My fault... typo... It is supposed to be in the Settings section not Support... Sorry about that. So it should look like:

[Settings]
Skip=T
hotkey=INS
Ctrl=1
Alt=
FileName=Auto-Save_$MM$DD$YY-$HH$NN$SS
Token=[censored]
Refresh_Token=[censored]

I updated the info on the site also. Thanks!

Ahh now it works! Cool.

Cerberus™ · « **Reply #71 on:** July 19, 2014, 11:00 PM »

Hmm somehow, the programme stopped working properly at some point, most likely due to some change in Imgur's stuff. I can connect to Imgur with their API key and post a screenshot, but a little while later (an hour?), the programme gives an error when I try to upload a screenshot, and I have to connect to Imgur again for it to work. Etc. I have temporarily switched to Myimgur, which is not 100% reliable, but it usually works.
