Ever had a question you wanted to ask Bill Gates?
« on: February 11, 2013, 10:11 PM »
What does he think of the company's direction with Surface?

Why did they kill off Courier?

Why does the B&MG foundation work with Monsanto?

He's doing a Reddit AMA right now.  Anyone who knows Reddit knows that nothing is off limits.  He might and might not answer- but I think people learned from Woody Harrelson.  So have at it! (via Engadget)

Interesting. I do like to hear from him.

And yes - that is a question that I wonder about. He seems very genuine and motivated out of real concern for people. So that's one that I just don't understand at all as it all seems to wildly at odds.

He touched on one area that I'd want to ask a related question about. But, that's treading on sensitive toes...

He may be serious

Another good one... there are some zingers!

Windows 2000 ftw!

Ok... the best one...

:P

I actually wasn't trying to be funny that time. :)

AFAIC anything Mr. Gates has to say (that was actually worth listening to) has already been said for the most part.

But that may be because I've spent a good deal of my adult life (and career) listening to Mr. Bill pontificate - and watching him call most of the shots. And I like to think I understand him pretty well by now.

Truth is, lately I'm significantly less interested in what my generation has to say; and much more interested in what the older and the younger generations are thinking about.

What's your opinion on linux?

I'm sure Linux tests Bill's patents ... I mean patience.

I have the Microsoft Vista for Dummies book, if you need it.

The new edition is one page long. It says, "upgrade to Windows 7".

That's interesting, given that previous editions were also one page saying, "Downgrade to Windows XP"

Here's Bill Gates' resume from 1974:

...At the time Gates was a freshman at Harvard; he said he'd be available from June 1974, would be happy to work "anywhere," and suggested a salary baseline of $15,000. Both Gates and Allen worked at Honeywell in the summer of 1974, before Gates dropped out of Harvard the following year to start Microsoft. Two decades later, Gates would be anointed the world's richest man...
