Some errors on Defrag and issue with copying to USB

Hello folks i am getting this error  when i try to run the defrag function in WInxp: i clearly remember it was OK for at least 2weeks and suddenly the defrag feature is showing this kind of message.
Can anyone tell what could be the worst reason, i had installed and removed a  lot of softwares may be that could be the reason, can anyone tell what do i do from here:






My pendrive will not copy files larger, something like 1 GB : it would show an error saying that "Cannot find the specified file".
"Make sure you specify the correct path and name.



This error was seen when i used to insert my pendrive to my friends PC: and that message would prompt me with this message , i believe its some registry value that needs to be tweaked, i have a 8GB pendrive and i want to make full use my drive when i am at his place:

So like : can anyone show me the methods that will help me fix this:

Ok i figured the second part : where the files couldn't be copied.
What about the first part.

Hit Windows+R and type REGEDIT.

Navigate to the following key In the left hand tree:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager

On the right find BootExecute and double click on it.

There may be a number of lines in the list that appears - the one you are looking for should look like this:

autocheck autochk /p \??\C:

This is what mine looks like after setting a boot time chkdsk:

autocheck autochk /p \??\C:
PDBoot.exe
autocheck autochk *

If it exists delete that line (including the blank line after you have deleted it) and click OK (leave any other lines alone). Close the registry editor and restart.

Once you have fixed it I suggest running a boot time chkdsk on drive C: before attempting to defrag it.

To do that hit Windows+R and type CMD. In the open window type:

CHKHDSK  C:  /R

and press enter (assuming it is NTFS formatted). When prompted say yes to doing this on next restart. Restart your computer and go and get some coffee.

During the next reboot it should run a complete health check on drive C:

After doing all those thing , i still get this error,,,,please tell what to do.

Checking file system on c:
The type of the fuke system is NTFS.
Cannot oprn vokume for diect access.
Windows has finished checking the Disc.

If you can't open C: for direct access it sounds like a controller error?

Can you run CHKDSK on it in windows:

Win+R -> CMD -> CHKDSK C:

don't include any trailing parameters justr see if the disk and be accessed and if any errors come up.

Also check your even log (Win+R -> EVENTVWR.MSC) and see if any disk or controller errors appear in the System log.

If the system marks the drive as 'dirty' then it will automatically schedule a boot time CHKDSK.

It also never hurts to check if the cable between your hard disk and your motherboard is properly connected (on both ends!).

This normally means to turn off your PC completely, open the case and fully disconnect both connectors on the hard disk and the connector on your motherboard. make sure there is no dust or other dirt on the connectors and reconnect. Turn on your PC again and see if your problems went away.

Likely you have a SATA type hard disk and that standard uses a very "flimsy" way of connecting.

If your problems still persist, try another (new) power supply. It is possible that your power supply is barely able to supply your system of sufficient juice. A power supply does wear down over time, even on electrical grids that are very stable. If your grid is not stable, your power supply's demise will come sooner than later.
