Software Installation Monitor
« on: May 06, 2012, 12:40 PM »
I have started this thread so that we can have one comprehensive, updated list of programs that are used to monitor software installations (file and/or registry) so that any program monitored could be uninstalled completely.

If possible, please provide the following information:

1. Name (obviously), version and weblink to its official homapage...
2. Method it uses (Snapshot or Live file monitoring)

Thanks!

Total Uninstall - Uninstall any program with the most advanced uninstaller software.

Total Uninstall accurate analyzes installed programs to uninstall them completely.
With "Installed Programs" module Total Uninstall analyze the installed program and create the installation log. This is used to do a complete uninstall even without the help of the provided standard uninstaller from Add Remove Programs.

Total Uninstall is a Windows uninstaller that can monitor new installations.
With "Monitored Programs" module it helps to monitor any changes made to your system during the installation of a new program. It allows you to perform a complete uninstall without having to rely on the supplied Add Remove program, which can leave files or changes behind.

Advanced Uninstaller PRO

Version: 10.62 (April 13, 2012)

Method: Currently snapshot, but I had used this program earlier and it supported live (real-time) file & registry monitoring. Upon checking with their tech team, they said that it does not support real-time monitoring...

Refer the attached image taken from their webpage which says that it supports real-time monitoring.

Sandboxie

Version: 3.68 (10 April 2012)

Quote
Sandboxie runs your programs in an isolated space which prevents them from making permanent changes to other programs and data in your computer.

You can install a program in a sandbox to test it out. If you do not like the program, you can completely remove the program by removing the sandbox.

Revo Uninstaller Pro

Version: 2.5.8 (April 23 2012)

Method: Real-time monitoring

Free and Professional versions available.
It's important to note the free version doesn't do realtime monitoring but the brute force cleanup is excellent. It also doesn't handle 64-bit programs. This is IMO the gold standard. The price is also a little steep for me but if you wait for a sale you can get it significantly cheaper. Unfortunately I always seem to look at the wrong time.
