the GUI is so un-standardised that I couldn't use the program!
(window frames out of screen area, etcetera)

cmpm · « **Reply #2 on:** April 23, 2011, 05:51 PM »

Sometimes that happens because my dpi is at 125%.
Mostly with DVD rippers for some reason.
I haven't tested the interface with normal dpi settings.

here's a shot off the page I posted

Yep, I also get that issue with the 120 DPI setting. It's surprising how often it still happens with all kinds of software.

Not really. There's so much pressure in software that things like being friendly to handicapped people often rates very low.

I have handicapped users that I've talked with, and I try to get things in there to make it easier, but at the end of the day, free, warez, crackz, competition... it all adds up. And makes it hard.

For major titles, sure. That's one story. But for the bulk of software? It's entirely different. Most software is written by smaller companies.

@Renegade, what do mean? I'm like totally missing your message here.

Curt · « **Reply #7 on:** April 23, 2011, 07:18 PM »

in my mind Renegade was merely saying that it is not a surprise that this happens a lot with programs from smaller companies.

And I recognize the valid point. My original statement was based on the user frustration which occurs when I have a program but cannot use it because some of the graphical elements are completely off the page. Really frustrating, but I suppose also understandable as Renegade notes.

To me it's like going to a restaurant and having to bother the waiter/waitress to bring silverware to the table.

Sad to say, it happens more than necessary.

Hi There,

This is Adam from Digiarty Support Team.

We are really sorry for the inconvenience. This is a bug here but we have managed to fix it.

Please simply download the latest version:

Download link: http://www.winxdvd.com/download/winx-dvd-copy-pro.exe

If you lost the code, please feel free to email sales@winxdvd.com for help.

cmpm · « **Reply #11 on:** April 26, 2011, 11:00 AM »

Yes, thank you, much better and welcome to Donationcoder!
Uninstalled from the start menu and installed the latest version.
And it retained the code, although it's in my clip history....somewhere.

40hz · « **Reply #12 on:** April 26, 2011, 02:10 PM »

FYI - the offer has been extended to today: April 26th.

Download link will be up for the 26th only.

You still need to install and register by April 30th for the free license to work.

Tried it yesterday. Odd interface - as has been previously noted. But the product works as advertised. And the price is certainly right.

Tested it yesterday on...well...let's just say a recently released DVD I bought. Copied to HD flawlessly.

I like it enough that I'm gonna spring for a paid version, I think.

You can get the 'WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe' free,
if you have a Facebook account.

http://www.facebook.com/WinXDVD?sk=app_7146470109

I think everyone wins if you click 'like'.
Took less then day to get the download link and code ~~via the e-mail in your facebook account.~~

Correction, you send them an e-mail with your facebook or twitter posted link.
Worked for me.

^That's a good deal. Even though such marketing practices makes seeing a high number of "likes" almost meaningless. Not that I ever put much faith in 'Facebook opinion' to begin with. If I did, it would be a lot easier to just ask what Diddy thinks and be done with it!

But seriously, if that offer is still running, it's a very good deal.

Thanks cmpm

no problem

Glad to see Digiarty Support posting here.

Except perhaps for those of us who want nothing to do with Facebook

+1. Seems like lots of these offers are increasingly tied to Facebook.

Facebook is not so bad. It only knows what you tell it.
And learning about the settings is essential.

Users of Twitter can get the deal as well.

Exactly.

Regarding elements disappearing off the page, there are many reasons for that. Usually you can right-click on a taskbar icon to get the move menu item then work from there, but it's arrow buttons from there.

and again now, but this time via gizmo:
"Free DVD Copier Offer Exclusive For Gizmo's Readers"

http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/free-dvd-copier-offer-exclusive-gizmos-readers.htm

Note that you need to activate the software before January 24th. 2014.

Modified:
The software is stamped "XMAS", and is of course without any updating.

However, I came back here to point out that the offer which one is given when registering this giveaway, is really not the best offer they can give. The register-offer package is for DVD Ripper, DVD Copier, and eh... one more, for a total of $50. This sounds okay, because the normal price is said to be $159. However, the exact same combo is on offer via their front page for $40!

Anyway - their software is okay.
