DONE: The Mouser Utility - Requested by App103

[KynloStephen66515]

This is possibly the most pointless thing I have ever made in my entire life...but App requested I make it...and if you frequent the IRC channel, this software (if you can call it that) will make perfect sence...otherwise...you might be confused

I attach no screenshots...those of you who download and run it will understand why

Description:

Ever wondered what it would be like to have software that runs exactly the same as Mouser?

How about one that ignores you completely?

If you answered yes...this is for you!

[mouser]

What does it do you ask? It's an inside joke they tease me about on irc since i SUPPOSEDLY have the habit of leaving conversations in mid discussions and ignoring people:

<Stephen66> Ill explain it, seeing as it doesnt run on ur pc
<Stephen66> Its a taskbar icon...2 context menu items...Get Attention, and, Exit
<Stephen66> neither do anything
<Stephen66> it just sits there
<Stephen66> ignoring you

Note that you can't exit it once started, you have to use task manager to kill it.

No point installing it to appreciate the joke, save yourself.  cute though.

[KynloStephen66515]

Updated...

now it does exit, per Mousers request so the new guys dont get confused how to quit it haha.

(I may expand on this project and have it do something interesting in the future...install it now to see its current state so you know what you will be dealing with)

Sounds like this same program could be used to replace several "Customer Service" centres that I know of

[40hz]

Could it be modded to answer to the name 'Peggy' by any chance?

[Stoic Joker]

...It's happy time...

I can never decide if I should laugh or cringe when I see those commercials.

"Discover's ad spending is way up at $67 million through the first half of 2010, per Nielsen. The client spent slightly less than $80 million in measured media during all of last year."

How about something like Esheep, but with a cat that roams around the desktop totally ignoring the user?

Maybe randomly closing windows that dont require the data to be saved...cause cats can be evil like that haha

Or, maybe, Cody flying off - catching a flight? - to visit yet another country?

[rgdot]

My AV said it's not good

kidding

[app103]

For clarification purposes...

I did not request this! You asked for an idea for a completely useless application and I merely told you an old joke by pasting an old quote from the IRC channel:

<app> i am thinking of creating a companion for instant boss...instant mouser
<app> you run it and it ignores you

Then explained what I meant by that.

Im pretty sure you said "you should make this" and I took it as a request lmfao!

Take the blame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha

[mouser]

You two need to figure out who is to blame for this monstrosity so that i know who to sue first!

YOU are, dear sir - for mousering us all the time

[40hz]

Well he is the Mouser after all.

Old proverb: Cats and cooks often come (and go) without saying.

Well he is the Mouser after all.

Old proverb: Cats and cooks often come (and go) without saying.

And he often goes to cook (or build bookcases) without saying.

One of these days I'll read an article online about some poor sap in Illinois who was crushed under the weight of a collapsed tofu book case and I'll know exactly who it was. . .

[mahesh2k]

why not make it a bit annoying ? add some hover action. Something like by hovering the tray application should bring little tooltip with message ' I haz been mousered'.

[Stoic Joker]

Either that or if the user hovers over the context menu more than X seconds, it goes inactive, detaches and drifts (away) off the screen.

So many memories of IRC conversations just recently passed!
