Return of Funds donated to the Touchscreen project.

[sgtevmckay]

I am posting this as I have received too many opinions.
They basically break down to this:
1.) Since the project is not going to move forward I should return the donations (This is what I feel is the right thing)
2.) Keep the donations as some or all may feel insulted

So what say you?
I do not really need more confusion, rather a yes or no.
If any One that has donated to this project wishes their donation return, advise me and it will be done directly.

[skwire]

Please keep my donation.  You two have more than earned it.

[mouser]

the donations were a thank you for the work you guys have done in the past. no need to return them in my opinion, at least not mine.

but if anyone who donated to you wants their donation back they should let me know and i'll revert it back to them, no worries.

Just wanted to mention that while I've never used the program, it seems like a hell of a nice one ... and I sent a small donation in the hopes that it can be kept alive.

not moving forward? is it just the touch screen project that is abandoned or everything?

(keep the donation by the way - or give to DC if it makes you feel better.)

Sarge, please keep my donation....
CD is a great program and has taught me alot since my first post...
you and Markham were more than willing to listen and help me with the glitches I encountered....
so when it comes down to it you deserve the donation

[Markham]

Touchscreen project? There was a touchscreen project?!!

Circle Dock works perfectly on touchscreens. However, the Sarge is referring to the possibility of adding gesturing support similar to trackpads found on more recent laptops and netbooks.

There are two different touchscreen technologies: the first is "resistive-effect" which has been around for almost 30 years and is the type most commonly used in ATM machines. Whilst robust, it's not terribly accurate. A much more recent technology is "capacitive-effect" is far more pixel-accurate and this is used for screens found on Smartphones, iPads and similar devices.

The touchscreen referred to uses the older resistive-effect technology and emulates mouse movements and actions involving the left mouse button. A gesture on such a device would be received as a left mouse button down, a movement and then left mouse button up. Circle Dock would need to build a memory map of all cursor movements, from the moment the mouse's left button was pressed down until it was released, and then trace all the coordinates in order to interpret the gesture. The amount of code required to do that - and the overhead in time and resources - would have been substantial and for little gain since very few people would use CD in that way.

I'm with Stoic Joker. I don't use CD but felt it was worth contributing to anyway. You can keep the donation.

You can hold onto my donation also.
