That's a great price (or maybe not) for any one of these games!

I emptied out my PayPal account for this. It wasn't a lot, but it was all I had.

[lanux128]

btw, the developers of Penumbra are having an additional promo by selling the whole collection for only $5! after you've donated to the Humble Indie Bundle, you can get a coupon that slashes the price by $15. The three Penumbra Games are Overture, Black Plague & Requiem.

I paid $20 for the original collection, then $5 for the Penumbra collection. BEST. POST. EVER.  Thank you.

[lanux128]

you're welcome. i wonder if the other devs are holding similar promo too?

lanux18 goes off to find out.

I didn't see anywhere that provided a coupon code...anybody care to clue me in?  Thanks.

You can get the code for the Penumbra Collection while installing Penumbra: Overture. There is also a text file installed by the game containing the code.

Ah, thanks.  I haven't installed them just yet.  =]

this gets even better! yet another game - Samorost 2 by Amanita Design - has been added to the roster at no extra cost..

Breaking humble indie news

Here is a unique and humble bonus to the 72,678 amazing people who have generously donated to us and charity so far! In a magnificent turn of events, fellow indie Amanita Design has donated their award-winning game Samorost 2 to you! Please consider thanking them and help spread the word while you download.

P.S. a Doco thread about Samorost2.

This is getting some press.

It's reported in the Globe & Mail newspaper in Canada.
Apparently, in three days:

• over 50,000 responses
• nearly $US 500,000 received
• Linux users paid the most
• Windows users paid the least
• Mac in the middle

[Deozaan]

Hooray! Samorost 2! What a nice surprise! Makes me wish I had more to donate.

While it is true that Windows users paid the least on average, over half of the $614,230 "donated" has been from Windows users. Linux is about 25%, and Mac is somewhere between 20-25%.

And then there are people like me who downloaded both Windows and Linux versions, so my contribution counted toward both, which might skew the numbers a bit in Linux's favor. Or it might not.

I sit corrected, I should have been more explicit.

[Lashiec]

The offer has been extended for another week to celebrate that the total amount of money collected from donators went over $1,000,000. What's more, as promised, all games included except for World of Goo and Samorost 2, will be open sourced under liberal licenses, with Lugaru already available for anyone to grab from a Mercurial repository, and free to do whatever you like with it as long as it's within the terms of the GPL.

I thought it was the little survey on your key page that determined where you fell statistically.

Yes, but the survey page allowed you to select more than one platform. I chose both Windows and Linux, since those are the platforms I was downloading for.

Hi folks,

I just got an e-mail saying that I can now activate the Humble Indie Bundle on Steam.

Awesome!

And it looks like there's a Humble Indie Bundle 2 in the works.

EDIT: added links

that's cool! i wonder what other titles will be on the roster this time around?

[Deozaan]

Unfortunately Samarost 2 isn't included in the Steam activation, but that game was never really a part of the original bundle in the first place. It was just a bonus thrown in after the fact.

I'm guessing it will include another game from Wolfire. Other than that I haven't a clue. But hopefully it will have Steam activation, too.

The Humble Indie Bundle #2 is out, go get it!

Pay whatever you want for 5 indie games!

Includes:

• Braid
• Cortex Command
• Machinarium
• Osmos
• Revenge of the Titans

[cranioscopical]

Thanks for the info.

Just what I need for my nephew

[wraith808]

I picked it up... knowing me, I probably won't play any of them until/unless they have steam activation.

I am not a gamer so forgive me if this common. (Publicly) keeping track of average purchase is one thing but average purchase per platform is hilarious and not necessarily in a good way...

I'm not a gamer either - but I don't necessarily understand what would be "not necessarily in a good way" about it.  It's mildly interesting, but I don't see it as being important in either a good or bad way.

I would be (again, mildly) interested to see the statistics on how the payments were divided up (ie., how much was designated to charity vs. the game developers and Humble Pie).  But that's not charted as far as I can tell.

I don't feel strongly about it either, just pointing out what seemed somewhat silly to me.

The 'not necessarily in a good way' was because of the following reason: if the current trend continues, it can basically only be used to say 'Windows users something something'. I can't think of any other purpose to collect this kind of info, let alone make it public. I doubt they are conducting any sort of scientific experiment or poll or collecting site visitor analytics based on who pays.
