Trend Micro is blocking this download (Clipboard Help+Spell)

[woodmouse]

I've added the download url to the approved list and restarted Firefox several times...no luck.  I've reported the site as OK to TM several times...no luck.  Is there another download site for this app?

[mouser]

that is really strange. i mean i could upload another copy to another site.. but really i dont understand what trend micro could be complaining about?  do you have some options to tell it how paranoid to be? what exactly does it say about not wanting to download the file?

[woodmouse]

Here's a clip of the TM window.  I followed the instructions several times, but to no avail.  I REALLY need a good clip manager...haven't had one since SmartBoard 2000...and yours looks great!  Can you zip & email it (under 20 MB)?

how about disabling TrendMicro Site Advisor and try to access the CHS download page?

[mouser]

lanux, McAfee SiteAdvisor has always seemed pretty good about dc website:
http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/donationcoder.com

This is some trend micro thing.. I can't find an online test for it.

[lanux128]

there seems to be a browser plugin here but i'm not sure how useful it is for testing purposes.

[mouser]

woodmouse, the trendmicro plugin only seems to work for Internet Explorer -- are you sure you are using FireFox?
if you use FireFox you might want to switch to SiteAdvisor which seems better: http://www.siteadvisor.com/download/ff.html
(note that it *only* works with firefox).

[woodmouse]

I have SiteAdvisor, too, and it gives your site a green light.  I also have TM Internet Security 2008 (used to be PC-Cillin), which is an awesome low-load, all-purpose suite (compared to McAfee & Symantec).  TM has flagged a bunch of bad sites, but it also has blocked some good ones.  I've never had it refuse to accept a site added to its "safe" list before now.  I'd call them if they were blocking my site.  TM supports Firefox seamlessly, but their online Contacts default to IE (Help & Chat).  I assume you are a S-M business...here's their contact info:

Toll-free phone support:
Enterprise: +1 877-338-7363
SMB: +1 888-608-1009
M-F 5AM – 5PM US Pacific time, except Labor Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day
24x7 customers please refer to your welcome email for the support contact details.

Can't wait to play with this app...will be great to catalog clips again (for repetitive eBay listings and email responses).  Thanks again!

Thanks Lanux128.  Note that "disabling" Trend Micro Internet Security is a PITA...I had to manually kill about 6 processes, and it still blocked mouser's download site for this app.

i emailed him a zip file with the program so he should be all set.. but now i have to figure out why trendmico is being so ridiculous.

This whole "business of fear" and "buying security" is ridiculous.
