I'm really only submitting it to NANY 'coz I know Mouse Man will cry me a river if I don't at least try to participate this year

exactly.

Some people have asked me if specific ideas meet the criteria of a NANY app and it has prompted me to make a tiny addendum.

The spirit of NANY is to make new apps that others can download and use.

That doesn't mean that you have to make a program that will be popular or that many people would find useful.

But it does mean that ideally your tool would be something that at least one other person in the known universe might be interested in downloading and using.

I'm a newibe to DonationCoder and like the NANY thing.

I'll put a program up for anyone that want it.

Not trying to rack up posts, but I tried to give an explaination of my program earlier and it wouldn't cooperate. So I'll try again.

It is a Bible Quiz, with over 1000 questions selected randomly. Play by yourself or with up to 6 players. Lots of whistles-n-bells also.

Avaliable for preview and download at my web site jazywebs.com Be sure to look at the screen shots first.

I´ll come up to the NANY-challenge 2009 with a Multi-User Ticket/Controlling/Noter/Idea-Management-System called CrushPad (it´s what you like it to be!

).

You can create categories & subcategories, tickets with notes and working states, edit/delete/search them by categories/date/case-insensitive strings/working states. If the program´s running from a network drive several users can work simultaneously collision-free with the same database that´s automatic refreshing if changes are detected. Exporting the result-list after searches to .csv files for spreadsheets is supported.

I was wondering if it would be worth starting a thread to call forward testers for prereleases. With NANY because you have to present a new app in a small timeframe, sometimes getting around to testing things is harder. Authors could post the idea of their projects, people willing to test the prereleases could get in touch and the rest could go via private IMs. Any point to doing this centrally to improve NANY apps?

mouser · « **Reply #59 on:** November 28, 2008, 03:16 PM »

I think it's a good idea -- in fact, i'd suggest every NANY participant each start there own thread in the NANY 2009 section, and title it something like "NANY 2009 Release: YOUR WORKING TITLE HERE".

So each NANY 2009 app will have it's own thread and you can request testers, post teaser screenshots, etc.

if you are rewriting something from the ground up i think it counts as a new application.

Okay, I'm in with a rewrite (and rename) of my To Do Tree app.

Wow, it's not even close to New Years yet and we already have a lot of previews going! Unfortunately, I can't enter the current application I'm working on for NANY, but I will have something else made.

Wow my first post, and it's a pledge for NANY 2009!

Jello! I'm pretty new here, mostly just got involved in the forums (if you call 2 posts active.) and I decided that this NANY dealio was pretty cool. I'm in for sure, but I'd like to clarify a couple points:

1) I'm more command-line-ish right now, so would a batch file turned EXE qualify? (a la Bat2Exe)

2) I understand that plugins are acceptable, would that include a FireFox extension?

Thanks in advance!

you might be better off leaving it as a batch file.

absolutely -- i'd love to see more firefox plugins created on dc.

I'm in. (The deadline for declaring participation is Dec. 7, right? I didn't miss it, right?)

mouser · « **Reply #73 on:** December 06, 2008, 06:59 PM »

Great!
You're fine -- the December 7 deadline to pledge entry is only a suggestion anyway not a strict requirement.

Perry Mowbray · « **Reply #74 on:** December 07, 2008, 05:06 AM »

ahem

That would make 31 pledges!
