There's an interesting NY Times article about Spore in today's online edition: Gaming Evolves

[Darwin]

BTW the system requirements for running Spore are here: http://www.spore.com/what/specs_spore

It took me a while to find 'em, so I thought I'd post a direct link...

Also, read some discussion about spore on this thread.
And check out the Spore Creature Creator Released - Make Cody Creature Contest!

What's up with the backwards release dates? Is Satan taking ice skating lessons? USA almost always gets games long before Europe and Australia. Usually months in advance!

Perhaps they finally realized how lame that is? It also helps a bit against piracy to have close release dates, so you don't get customers who say "Wtf, the Amerikans have it, and I have to wait a month? Fsck that, I'll just grab a torrent"

If I remember correctly, Nintendo ships their Wii's first to Japan/Asia then Europe and after that to the US nowadays. Problems with getting the money for their products lead to their decision. This was on Slashdot, so likely to be taken with a grain of salt...but still.

I knew it! Conspriacy!

Yeah, this is all a polt!

[Josh]

A site I co-admin has some preview videos from a visit by our owner to the maxis headquarters to play and interview about the game. Check it out at www.simphoni.net

Apparently it was out the 4th here too. I just purchased it today, will upload pics and such when I get to play it

[p3lb0x]

Here I am at the early creature stage with my tribe of Cody creature

[jgpaiva]

You're playing with a cody creature!
Now that's cool!

[p3lb0x]

Aaaaaand, early tribal

[f0dder]

p3lb0x, use <attachthumb=#> when posting big screenshots - and you might want to resize to 800x600 for the lesser-broadband-enabled people (and doing .jpg instead of .png for game screenshots is probably a pretty good idea as well).

[Lashiec]

Yeah, 4 MB pictures is overkill

Hehe, I'd really like to see the Cody tribe during the galactic conquest phase

[mouser]

4mb image omg.
yeah definitely resize maybe 800x600 or 1024x768 and save as JPG.

[p3lb0x]

Oh god, I didn't realize they were that heavy :|
I will be fixing it now

[Deozaan]

Awesome! Spore comes out tomorrow in the USA.

Still waiting...
