Don't feel bad. The network that bought it seemed to be bending over backwards to screw it up: episodes run out of sequence; weird time slots; irregular intervals between episodes, etc. It was almost as if they wanted it to fail. You can read all about it up on the fan sites.

Since it's gone - and won't be coming back - you could also start with the feature movie Serenity. WARNING: There are three major spoilers in the film (two of which are what used to be called "absolute bummers"), so if you want the full "Firefly experience" you'll have to watch the episodes first. (I didn't) The episode entitled Our Mrs. Reynolds is an absolute gem. It contains some priceless dialog that sets much of the tone for all the later episodes.

There are probably a lot better uses for $50 than to buy the DVD set of Firefly. However, I can't think of very many.

Firefly...the most brilliant work of Joss Whedon (also created the TV series: Buffy the vampire slayer and it's spinoff Angel). Snappy humor and great (sometimes disturbing) story lines without (too much) political correctness...the 'Way of the (wild) west', but then in space. Absolute brilliance I tell you

If I am not doing something that I would define as work (yard/computer/schoolwork) I either program, or play games. I am a big fan of driving games (always have been) as well as FPS games. If I am bored of everything I have available to play (over 70GB of games) I usually end up deleting stuff from my PC to make room for another game.

The never ending cycle of data vs games. The winner: certainly not the hard drive!

I will come at this from another point of view- since I, myself, am not a programmer... But, I am married to the biggest computer geek on the planet (points at Gothi[c]).
I can safely say that if it was not for me? he would not even know what "outside" looked like, or even know that people existed in flesh form.

This 'Flesh form' was the biggest trend before 1995...nowadays almost forgotten. However there are some popular archives that show how it was back then (Flicker, Google Image etc.).

If I remember correctly, the 70's were (in)famous because of colour...the mix and match of colours in the house would make your eyes bleed more or less. So how happy would one be to be able to afford all those colours?

Oh, you were referring to the TV...

Ah...the days of actually having to get up from the couch to change the channel (all 6 of them!), readjusting the areal antenna and getting/reading the TV-magazine for something to see. And when there wasn't something to see, there was always the 'Pong' game you could play on it.

I agree, that was a good era.

As I recall, there were only three colors:

Tangerine (dull orange), Avacado (dull green), and Goldenrod (dull yellow).

If you wanted anything other than those, you could choose:

"Paisley" (looked like the culture of a bacterial warfare experiment on acid),

"Wood Grain" (mimicked the 'natural' pattern of no known tree),

or a "Peace Flower" print (of which the less said, the better).

They say you can never go back. We should be grateful.

I ride my bike, take a walk, read, draw, read politics, take my son for a walk-ride, listen music, exercise couple times a day, study another language, try new software. I do these everyday regularly. And on top of these I work!!!

I never watch tv, play games(even thou I worked on multiple game titles before). Do not get me wrong guys but watching tv or playing games is total waste of time. These activities should be reserved for those who never need to earn any money rest of their lives

I just procrastinate. "As idle as a painted ship, upon a painted ocean". And my skills at that activity have been honed to quite masterful levels, if I must say so myself.

Well, I also hang out with friends, listen to music, get drunk, and sometimes manage to convince myself to do a little coding. Sometimes, I even combine all of the above

games (right now it's Overlord!), tv shows, reading/audio book (for those time when away from a pc

or in transit, like i'll be tomorrow, just finishing up the Dark Tower series (I didn't like it that much), going to start ender's game), coding, trying to improve everyone else' computing experience around me

(i.e. recommending FARR & locate & AHK)..., biking occassionally, being hyper at times (these are the most fun periods

).
since involved in a big family, oftentimes it's just spending time with family.

Though I agree that games & TV are somewhat a wasted mindshare (there was that wikipedia article right? i forget the term for that, thought-hours? you know about how much thinking time is wasted on TV ...etc.), but i find it hard to motivate myself to work for something if someone isn't going to be happy at the end and shower me with praise

... it seems that it's the only thing that motivates me to a 100%
