Where else do you go except DonationCoder
« on: May 31, 2008, 04:42 PM »
I am totally n00b to English speaking communities. I came to DonationCoder because of that loooong editor choosing thread and FARR.

So which are the top 10 sites developers always go? I'd really like to see what's going on in a BBS/forum/community. Always like to see new ideas.

Any recommends?

If you're a developer, check out:

http://www.codeproject.com
http://freshmeat.net
http://sourceforge.net
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/default.aspx

after DonationCoder, of course  ;)

Newsgroups don't have the excellent  signal-to-noise ratio that you find at a place like DC but they're focused on your topic of interest and usually have a few resident experts who are more than willing to help.

The top 4 that I visit most regularly:

JoS
ASP Newsgroups
CodeProject
MSDN

If you don't know the URLs, finding them will be good for you! ;)

I personally rely on SuperAntiSpyware, which I found quite "professional".  And yes I confess I have a Lenovo Thinkpad  ;)

You betcha!

We also go out for bad Chinese, milspec pizza, and the not too occasional microbrew - which is the mark of the true professional.

I don't participate in any other forums besides donationcoder.com. I do spend a lot of time on my own sites, moderating comments and replying to comments. However, if it has to be a forum there is only dc.

I spend most of my forum time between here and http://sqlnotes.net/ ...  :)

I'm no programmer, by any stretch of the imagination. But when I need a simple app to do a simple task I go straight to DonationCoder. Over the past couple of years that I've been using DC I have always found what I'm looking for, and highly recommend it to friends. I don't know how I ever lived without FARR!
Kind Regards,
