Did someone forget to take their medication again??

Who exactly is a thief and what have they stolen??

mouser · « **Reply #2 on:** October 27, 2005, 02:42 PM »

it's possible this person has just discovered the site right on this day when we are moving servers and interpreted it as meaning something fishy is going on...

if so, let me assure you that never since the good old days of "mission imposssible" would such an elaborate scam be designed to steal a a couple dollars worth of donations

Carol Haynes · « **Reply #3 on:** October 27, 2005, 04:46 PM »

Personally I would suggest the poster should be reported to his/her ISP for abuse (you have the posting IP and time so it is traceable) - I find the comments offensive as, I'd guess, do most other people here.

As for myself, I feel that I have received far more in return for my donations than I expected. I guess we can all see from fw190a's 1 and only post that he/she probably is a little on the "less stable" side of things and we are better off without him/her trying to bring us down.

Long live DonationCoder

Perhaps we are all misinterpreting this deep and meaningful post...

The "fucking site" mentioned must refer to one of the many sites available online that serve tasteful erotic photographs, but the one in question is evidently poor value for money.

The second point, that "thiefs" [sic] should "go to hell", is a fair although harsh sentiment regarding the fate of all those who thieve for a living.

I should like to welcome fw190a to DonationCoder.com and assure him/her that this site is superb value for money (it is free, unless you choose to donate) though you may be disappointed by the lack of nudity to be found here.

Do you think fw is an appropriate set of initials

mouser · « **Reply #7 on:** October 27, 2005, 06:16 PM »

i associated myself with Ampa's message

I only jump into this conversation because "fw190a," while perhaps having other connotations, is the name of a fantastically successful German fighter from WWII. The German Focke Wulf 190 was a fearsome threat to the Allied bombing of Germany and caused many headaches to the pilots and crewman of our B-24's, B-17's, and escort fighters. Sorry, I'm a military aviation geek....

kfitting, got a picture for us?

ps.
fw190a, feel free to email me directly (mouser@donationcoder.com) about any issues.

No, no pictures... though stefans has kindly provided one. You can search on Google for fw190 and get quite a few small pics. Awesome plane though... especially the Dora model. One of the FW190's enemies, the P-51D, is hanging at the top of the pic. Guessing on the D part based on the paint scheme. And now, before I ramble on about aircraft,

When looking for 190a, I also found these:

@mouser: Maybe he's so angry at you because he thought you'd donate an Elise to HIM?

But....

...one thing is sure...

...if he doesn't learn to calm down he'll need THIS 190a model soon:

Try this ... cheap at twice the price

You are a patient man, mouser. In the internet space where I come from that post would have simply and instantly brought a press in the big red ban and remove button. You all have a generous sense of humour.

i find it bizarre that someone would take the time to register AND leave their email address in their profile (assuming it is legit) and then leave such a short post.

any idea what

is supposed to mean?

is this some kind of test? are there clues as to fw190a's real identity and motives hidden within the brief message.

is it wrong to ignore someone who is obviously so troubled/upset/angered/moronic?

i think that the final piece of the puzzle has fallen into place...

fw190a = secret agent from german airforce intelligence division, hired to flush out the original members of the site that have gone into hiding... and now he has caught his first prize... nudone!!!!!!!!

Just a note to Carol - love the "Do you think fw is an appropriate set of initials" comment. I don't imagine anyone who is either not English or has not spent any time there will get it, but I had a good laugh (and I think that you are on to something, too)!

Also, to kfitting, notice another of the FW190 nemeses in the upper-mid right of the picture - Spitfire, though a pre-Mk9 by the look of things...

Carol Haynes · « **Reply #19 on:** October 28, 2005, 08:22 AM »

Thanks Darwin - actually anyone who has seen Bridget Jones' Diary should get it (it is one of her favourite descriptions of useless boyfriends).

Darwin: Pre Mk IX?? You can tell from the rear fuselage? That's pretty impressive. Unfortunately, it's not a bubble canopy... those are downright sweet looking. If you go to www.airliners.net and do a search on Spitfire, they've got some impressive pics of a later (MkXIV or MkXV) with a bubble canopy and five bladed prop. Poetry in motion!

Hi kfitting,

The giveaway is the assymmetry of the underwing radiator and oil cooler (long tube shaped apparatus under the left (port) wing in the picture). On the Mk VII and above the cooling system was redesigned resulting in a symmetrical arrangement with the radiators under both wings being larger and rectangular (as in the one under the right (starboard) wing in Stefan's picture). The Mk IX is the most numerous of all the Spitfires (sort of the equivalent of the P-51D in that regard) and the first that you commonly see with the redesigned cooling system. Thanks for the link to www.airliners.net, by the way, I'd not come across that one before. Very impressive.

Carol, I had completely forgotten about Bridget Jone's Diary! You're right, though, anyone who has seen it should be able to figure out what "fw" stands for. I'm laughing all over again.

Thanks,

Mike

Another cool link Darwin is www.fencecheck.com, an aviation photography website. You have to search through the forums but there are some extremely impressive photos there. Fencecheck is more of an artist's photo site whereas ANet has such stiff criteria you end up with a lot of similar shots.

Good tip on the IX, hadnt paid that much attention to Spitfire characteristics! On the other hand, finally got to see a Spitfire fly this year.... ahhhh, the music of that merlin!

Hi Kevin,

Another nice link! I was fortunate enough to have lived near Duxford in the UK while I was working on my (as yet unfinished/forgotten) PhD and spent many a weekend taking advantage of the student discount at the air museum there. FANTASTIC. I attended three airshows and will never be the same...

it's one thing to read about the "song of a Merlin" and quite another to hear it.

Sadly, back home in Canada there are far fewer opportunities to witness such magic. Occasionally, the local air show brings in a Mustang and I can get my fix. My father has also been involved with a local group working to restore a Mk. IX Spitfire (http://www.y2kspitfire.com/), so there is hope for me yet! I've just noticed that they used part of one of my dad's paintings on the opening page and the whole thing displays when you hover over "contacts". I'll have to let him know - he'll be thrilled!

Best,

Mike

Yeah, been going to airshows since I was in about third grade. I get to hear that other sweet music, afterburners, a lot now! But a nice merlin or radial (those big pratts!) still have a beautiful sound to them. I've seen P51's fairly often. Still waiting to see an F8F in person though...
