DonationCoder's Screenshot Captor won the recommendation for Best Screenshot tool for Advanced Users (for Personal Users since it's judged to be non-free for commercial use, which is true for non-small-home-businesses).

"dated" lol....
well...so are we...

I've tried many a screenshot program.
Mouser's still is the easiest and cleanest and versatile one there is.

There are many more, besides the screenshot programs within other programs.

I have a print option after capture and before saving with ScreenshotCapture.
What are they talking about I wonder?

Cool. Well deserved. While I haven't tried many screenshot apps, I can't imagine anyone being remotely close to SC in any way.  :-*

Hi Folks,

Congrats.

Nice reviews by the Software Junkie.

I have been using MW-Snap over the years, but it is a bit on the older no-newness side,
(also, as the reviewer pointed out, the lack of ability to add your notes/annotations).
So I will now plan to use ScreenshotCaptor and EasyCapture as my regulars.

I always like full products, that don't mind personal and business use, and are not earlier releases
or restricted, and that are being actively discussed on webforums and under more development.
Oops, no forums on EasyCapture, however it looks like a good, new product, fully-freeware.

(Fully-freeware .. my term for "no nags, no restrictions, no Pro/Deluxe upgrade, commercial and
multi-puter use ok" .. granted sometimes the Pro versions are legitimately super-extras.)

One very helpful feature that is in a couple of commercial products (SnagIt and Hypersnap
have elements of it) are the text capture, like when you want to capture a screen message
sans retyping.  Some products even take it as far as OCR.  Also might help on small Google
books shots where there is no text option. This was one reason why I snagged the earlier
SnagIt when it was officially ok, and one reason why I considered the Hypersnap purchase
when it is at discount. Others with text capabilities are Kleptomania, CaptureText,
Snapture, Screenhunter Pro, Aqua Deskperience and some others.  No freeware afaik.

Also want to look at the quick snap-and-save-and-share products, eg. from toolbar, that were
mentioned.  Jing and Clip2Net are worth a look-see.

And there are also the Firefox extensions to consider.

Some small freeware products that are actually pretty good were not included.  One note
mentioned Winsnap by NTWind.  And there is Purrint and Hoversnap.  And others.  !Quick
and Screenhunter are examples of Free versions of Pro products, so of much less interest.

Anyway, on the freeware the reviewer generally included top-notch programs, it is unlikely
that the others omitted would displace the better ones reviewed, although for simplicity
the ones like WinSnap and Purrint might be fine.

Shalom,
Steven Avery

Congratulations, mouser!! Indeed, Screenshot Captor is very well conceived.

Easy to see why it won. Screenshot Captor started out good and very quickly replaced a lot of people's favorite screenshot app. Amazing what a dev with a sense of direction and user feedback can do to affect one software category in a short time.

Congratulations well deserved.

I downloaded Screenshot Captor a while ago and thought "WOW, how powerful!"

And since then I've nearly always used the free Faststone prog.  :-[ :-[ :-[

Mostly because I'm used to it, and it's simple, and my needs are simple.

I really ought to tell myself to fire Screenshot Captor up more often.

if they want it to look prettier and fancier
you are going to take a hit in performance
though this works it shoots my cpu way up
whereas screenshot capture does not

found this from

http://www.barrysbestblog.com/

http://www.bugshooting.com/web/index.php5?tpl=featurelist&b=index

not sure of feature comparison
but it is quite bulky
it works ok and could be a contender

i think it has less real usable features
the 'send to' can be done with any file without this program
slow to stitch imo
screenshot capture responds faster

but i kept it
still room on my drive..lol....

I actually bought Snag-It before I started coming to DC.

Care to guess what I use now?

Bravo Mouser - and congratulations! Superb bit of code. Hands down the best for "gettin' it done."
