Scaramouche?

The Clown

I was a clown, I played the Fool,
But deep in my heart there’s no laughter at all.

I was a clown but I couldn’t see,
It wasn’t the jokes, they were laughing at me.

Now the circus is over, the crowds have gone home,
The lights go down and I stand here alone.

No more the clown, only a fool,
For when I look around there’s no-one at all.

I liked that from when it first came out but The Clown was inspired by THIS.

First of all I didn't know where to post this and after seeing a few posts and making a few posts I wanted to share with this site what I do and where I am from and everything else in between.

To sum it up for me I work for the Royal Australian Air Force in Communications. I am either based in Mawson Antarctica or Gold Coast Australia. In my spare time I like to write software. Originally and what I will post below is the majority written in Visual Basic 6.0 (VB6). I opted for VB6 because it was more of a graphical application, so I could see what I was creating and play around with it then go into the back end and create the functions etc. Moving on from VB6 I am now into VB.NET and still using the graphical side of the software but with more use and more exploring, it gives me the grounds to deliver easier + also add the option to update so much easier without the need of having to check for updates.

Below is the list of all the VB6 apps that I have created to date. WinUp which was originally on CNET was pulled after Microsoft sent a letter asking to be pulled because it violated there terms and conditions of downloading Windows Updates, that didn't stop me when I learned about PAD files and PAD Submission.

I don't know what I can do for this forum, but it certainly feels nice to be part of a community where the general midst is programming. There are so many different types of programmers here from Delphi to C++ to VB.NET to everything.

Right now in programming im more so focused on my torrent software and have been since 2007. With every single site I had submitted my software too, around 627+ at the time, torrents for myself was a new way of technology, I wanted to board that train and learning more.

I won't go into detail as I have already submitted the software via the submission tool on the site, as I didn't want anyone to think I was trying to spam here. I look forward to making many new friends and even learning from others and hopefully meeting some other VB.NET programmers cos I may do a lot of programming, but I still have my own troubles.

Chat Soon and Thank you.

My name is Rich Fiscus and I write and create videos for AfterDawn.com. In my former life I was an IT monkey and for a couple years I taught community college networking classes. I found DonationCoder more than a year ago when I was looking for a launcher to alleviate my headaches with the Windows 7 [strike]Stop[/strike] Start menu. Now I'm hoping to give something back by contributing to the community and doing a little promotion for some of my favorite software.

You are clearly a very busy software author!

However, you are just as clearly not really into sales or marketing, huh? The names you have given your applications, makes it totally impossible to ever do a successful Internet search for almost any of them!

Do you have a homepage for your software?

Welcome and well met! Always good to have a new voice join our discussion. I'm a sysadmin for hire and network integrator (along with other things I enjoy doing far more) so it's always nice to make the acquaintance of somebody else who's been down in the IT trenches.

64 year old married male living in New Zealand. Joined military out of school for six active years, then working with computers since 1972 maintained an IBM 360 with many peripherals, then as a Health and Safety contractor, college lecturer, then back to computers in 1991 self employed as a system analyst moonlighting as a repair tech and corporate trainer. Retired at 57 years just as Vista was released. Since then been learning Linux, mainly Mint and how to get stuff working in Linux. Also photography - our region is seabound on two sides and has some magnificent scenery. Rode a motorbike seriously since 17, got my license at 32 and gave up at 63 due to health problems, and my wife lost confidence as my pillion. (No incidents, just early Alzheimer's.) Have two daughters living in the area with seven grandchildren, two sons out of area with six grandchildren: oldest grandchild = 25 years, youngest = 3 years. Now spend most days surfing the web and/or walking the beach about 200 metres away.

Here's a link to the local community, about 30 minutes drive to NZ's largest city Auckland, with about 1.8 million people - too many people and far too close, but that's how it is.

http://www.orewabeach.co.nz/joomla3/galleries/gallery-orewa/index.html

In image 3, look for the big tree to the right horizontally and almost centre vertically. We live in that general area, quiet, close to town and beach. The beach is about 1.5 miles long so there's plenty to see on the gallery. Scenes shown are from all along the beach.

Welcome fredimeister.

Always good to see a new name around here. With your wide range of interests and work experience I'm sure you'll find you fit in quite well with this crowd. Also my special welcome to a fellow Linux user. We may be in the minority as of now. But it's only a matter of time before that changes.

Be seein' ya around the campus!

Thanks folks. Might not be here often, and I tend to lurk more than leap out into the open, but I'm still interested in learning so I'll be around.

Hi- I''m a 91 year old retiree with severe vision loss. I depend upon my PC and video reader to keep in touch with the world. In my first career I served as a regular Ar, Signal Corps Officer and when retired I joined the zMartin Marietta Corpopartion as the Director of c3I programs. Upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 65 I again retired only to be hired back as a consultant. After getting my feet on the ground in this world of consulting I started serving other companies than MMC and grew the organization to 12 full time and about 50 part time associates. When my wife's deteriorating health required my full time attention I sold the company to the full time employees and retired again.ife passed 3 years ago and I now live alone with daily health aides helping me

Wow! What a rich and full life

! Thank you for sharing your story with us and WELCOME to DC. I have not been very active here for a few years now, but do monitor the fora; you will find this to be a very welcoming and tolerant place

My condolences (late though they may be) on your wife's passing.

Hi, I am a german government employee and 64 yeaers old. I am blind since 1975. Since 1985 I work with computers that have a software called Screen Reader (JAWS=Job Access with Speech) that speaks out the written Text of the Display.
I am in cahrge of a computer Club for blind people, and my hobby is the testing of software, if it can be used by blind people. This is the reason I got in contact with Skwire, because I tested his programms and hat difficulties . I wrote to him, and he instantli changed his program and I could use it, although I was not a member of donation coder.

I thank him very much, and i must say that not many programmers are so kind and so friendly - and so willing to help! I often write to program authors with questions, but mostly they don`t answer at alll, or they answer that they are not willed to change their stuff.

And I should not forget Mouser! When i became a member, he offered me special help because he knew I am blind.
SO, many greetings to Skwire and Mouser again today!
And many thanks for all those nice programms that mostly work with Screen Reader!

Best Regards, Ulrich

Although emailaddresses looks a little like a portal it does have interesting links & news. Online Photo Albums could use some updating. Good work!

After a loooooong hiatus (life's a b*tch) I finally got settled down enough that I get to participate on a forum on a regular basis. I missed you guys.

Is the IRC channel still active? I have to drop as soon as I get my ISP to unblock the port.
