Hey - this lot is fun - really like all the sets pointed out. I have never bothered with custom sets before because I couldn't quite be bothered (or see the point) but I really like these - esp. XsX with shadows!

The Aero cursors are actually one of the few things I like about Vista - but I still prefer my new-found love, the Entis cursors :)

Stardock's new CursorFX Beta is gratis, and PLUS is $20 - and they are both GREAT.

Here are the modified XsX cursors with shadows. I intentionally didn't modify the Text select and Precision pointer, as the shadow makes them a bit unclear. Just replace the originals and proceed the same way. Enjoy!

By the way, any idea why the "Enable pointer shadow" option doesn't work?

These are fantastic!!

I noticed your comment on my blog a few weeks ago and have finally had an opportunity to check these out. I love them. I will definitely make a new package for these.

Hi guys!
I've made a new self-extracting / self-installing (with permission) of the shadowed cursors that originated here!
You can download the package from http://blog.tiensivu.com/aaron/archives/1434-XsX-Alpha-Blended-cursors-with-embedded-shadows.html.

Let me know if you like it and/or if you have any problems. I need to get to bed!

The hardest part was to find an application capable of editing or keeping the cursor hot spot. IcoFX, which is otherwise an excellent application, lacks this feature, but RealWorld Cursor Editor can do this, and much more, and it's freeware.

used that RealWorld Cursor Editor to make a slightly smaller version of the Entis (post#4) cursors.
Also narrowed the text one down a bit.
It's real easy to use, nice :-*

http://www.stardock.com/products/cursorfx/

I've been a long time CursorXP user, in fact I had a license from before Stardock absorbed the developer.  But I've finally quit using it and really prefer these cursor packages.  I'd have issues with z-buffer issues with CursorXP, in some applications it would be behind menus, etc.  Plus if you remote desktop to the system running CursorXP the mouse was terribly slow and jerky.  A quick hotkey disable of CursorXP would deal with that but occasionally you'd end up with no cursor at all.

I'm not sure how many of these issues persist in CursorFX (I'm sure the remote desktop performance is still lacking, just because of what the program does) and I'm a little annoyed that their product branching would require me to buy it again, albeit discounted.  All in all, I've become disenchanted with Stardock's products being half-baked and then development ceases.  My Object Desktop subscription expires in March and I think I'm finally going to let it lapse after subscribing for seven years (maybe longer even?) now.

I've never tried CursorXP, and I have not had any problems with CursorFX  :)
