Hi,

you maybe know that I love the new, great Google Sidebar: http://desktop.google.com/en/ (improved again). I just miss tiny feature - back when I use the old Desktop Search I had a Google search field in my taskbar which I could jump to with Ctrl+g. Not possible anymore  :(

Now it looks like this:

So a tiny script for Ctrl+g would just need to place the cursor at -10 pixel from right side of screen and -10 pixel from bottom from screen and click the left mouse button.

[please fill with script, thank you]

Read about Gigabyte's i-RAM (Affordable Solid State Storage) already?

It's a really great idea, and when the new version comes out soon you'll be able to use up to 8 GB just like another HD in your PC. I'm only starting to think about possible ways to use this:

  • use it for the Windows swap file
  • use it as cache for image and video editing tools

I bet you'll come up with more ideas!

Hi,

while I prefer to use http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Zoom_Player_Standard/978385825/1 to view video files (lots and lots of options to control the player with mouse, scroll wheel and keyboard) I needed to try other players to capture an image from a video file.

I tried http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/VLC_VideoLAN_for_Windows/1034861925/1 which has a "Snapshot" option but didn't really let me get a captured image.

Then I tried http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/BSPlayer/973752711/1 and finally found what I was looking for: just right-click the video --> Options --> Capture frame. BSPlayer will save the images in its own folder.

Miranda discussion started in https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=1188.0

Trying Miranda - your link doesn't work by the way (either page doesn't display or I am told connection was refused).

It is certainly minimalistic - perhaps a bit too much for me, but it is nice to have different networks in one interface.
Strange, page opens here without a problem...

Minimalistic? Yes, on default... but if you like, you can blow it up to look more or less like the original MSN/ICQ/Yahoo or even way better! That's another thing I like about Miranda :) The folks in #miranda on irc.freenode.net are mostly friendly and the forums are nice too.

Some examples of what is possible:

Interested? Then check out http://bluescreenofdeath.co.uk/Miranda/ for a quick-start guide, http://www.miranda-im.org/ is the main site.

It sure isn't suitable for people who got their first PC a few days ago, but it's perfect if you love many options and even more plugins to choose from!

Miranda rocks! Miranda rocks!

Hi,

another idea:

http://img349.imageshack.us/img349/9103/scidea8yd.png

So the next images you capture will not be named

"11_10_2005 , 15_56_52.png" and so on but
"Lisa's new homepage 11_10_2005 , 15_56_52.png" and so on...

The right-click menu for the tray icon would get another entry, where you just would enable (bringing up this new window) and disable the temp. pre-template mode (SC should remember the pre-template and bring it up again next time one uses it). I used a different color for the icon in the window and think the tray icon should change to that color too while that new mode is enabled.

I like the idea a lot, since I often capture lots of images in a row and don't really like having to rename them afterwards/later (not even with a renamer utility ;) ) and neither having to change the template option themselves... (I tend to forget to reverse changes like those after a while...).

What do you think?

And a tiny request: could you perhaps split up %datetime% to (or just add) %date% and %time%?
