I wonder if the QB files can be saved as QIF?

If so, you could always get an old copy of Quicken and load them up there.

I am long retired, but still use my old version of Quicken to keep track of things.

I use the 1998 version - it still works well......   and no subscription!

I also have a laser printer (B&W) and an injet colour printer.

My wife and I use the laser for all of our needs nowadays.

The injet has not printed properly for a few years now - I only use it to scan documents.

I probably should bite the bullet and rationalize too.  Thanks for the prompt.

I have a folder on my desktop called "shortcuts" . I place shortcuts to any program I want to use regularly in it.

(I also use sub-folders in the "shorcuts" folder to sort different types of programs).

Then I select the "shorcuts" folder as a toolbar.... so that all the shortcuts are readily available to me at all times.

I bought through a reseller (sharewareonsale).

It took a long time to upload my files - but I got there!

The website is basic - but worked ok for me.

Just hope they are able to make a go of it.

Thanks for the link.

I downloaded KB3161608 and installed it.

Windows Update then told me I had 22 Important updates (186 MB).

Updates have been downloaded and installed.

So far, all is going OK.  .......   CPU stayed at 100% for a time, but now has settled to my "old" usage pattern.

...... we'll see....

I have had the same problem on my laptop over the last few months.

I have also resorted to turning off windows updates - and the CPU activity became normal again.

I note that when I run a Wise Cleaner scan - it turns windows update back on - and I need to reverse that.

I did some web page design for my business clients in the 1990's.

I used hostica.com ... and still have a small account with them.

They were cheap and had all that I wanted/needed.

At that time I subscribed to a plan where you could host "unlimited" websites.

I used to set up the "draft" website to show the client... and then pass it on to them to host "wherever".

This was just a little diversion for me....... there was little money to be made from it.

I imagine that has not changed much.

This discussion remainds me of trying to do the same to lotus files years ago (late 1980's).

There were a few shareware ad freeware programs that could do a reasonable job....  but when I found a program called "sqz!" I was able to get 95% reductions in file size!

.... which helped me immensely when emailing squeezed files using a dial up connection.

Not at the moment but that bit of the message should be marked as the 'signature' (the double dash) so your SMS tool might have a setting to ignore that. Hth

Worked that out by experimenting!

I was also going to try to use it to send sms - via an email-to-sms service that my ISP provides.

The only problem I now have is that the program adds a comment and date after the email message.  Is that removable in any way?

I loaded the zoiper softphone the other day and found that it can send and receive faxes via voip (sip and AIX).

It uses the t38 protocol.

I recently had problems with HP's Solution Center when instaling another HP all-in-one.

The scanner worked ok but HP's program would not work with it - registry mismatch.

I tried a number of other programs - most were so called photo copier programs.  But they allowed you to select the scanner and the printer.  Which meant I could scan a document and file it as a pdf (which is what I wanted).

I used:

icarbon
photocopier
copying machine (ex meusoft)

Files were downloaded from Snapfiles Pro as free software.

In Australia, fax-to-email and email-to-fax services are provided by VSPs (voip), ISPs (broadband) and specialist providers.

When using my VSP, my fax sending cost is usually 10 cents per call. Receiving faxes is free, but you pay for a DID.

When using my ISP, my fax sending cost is 3 cents per fax (to 10 pages).  Receiving faxes is free, but you pay for a DID.

When using my specialist provider (utbox.net), my fax sending cost 15 cents per page and my fax receiving cost is 5 cents per page. (The DID is covered by a minimum annual usage charge).

All services send locally (Australia) and internationally.

All costs are in Australian dollars.

These fax services have evolved quickly over the last 3 years (use of asterisk?).

Prior to that, I was paying a specialist provider over $25 per month before their usage charges!

As my usage has dwindled in recent years (I am now semi-retired), I now only use my ISP's fax service.

As an aside, all of the above also provide SMS services using both web and desktop applications.

Years ago I moved into a house in Brisbane, Australia which had a large (12 ft high) retaining wall built of railway sleepers.

A vine started to grow on the wall, and after a while these large tubors appeared..... some hanging on the vine, others part submerged in the siol of the embankment.  They were 3-4 inches diameter and about 12 inches long. 

Not knowing what they were, I cut them off and disposed them (before the kids got "poisoned"???).

A year or so later, my wife remarked that they looked something like a sweet potato.  So we cooked one up ......

And it was really tasty....  (i.e. we survived the taste test!)

The vine kept us in sweet potato for some years......

PS In Oz we use them like a potato (substitute), as a vegetable in roast meals, etc.

My wife says they are good for me...........  (makes you wonder though.....)

My "normal" dinner is steak, sweet potato and broccoli.

So I suppose I must like sweet potato. (or I would have asked my "complementary one" to change the meal.)

Sweet potatoes have just about replaced the "normal" potato in my family's diet. (except when we have potato and leak soup - which id tomorrow night's dinner - I have now been informed.

... and I prefer their taste, too!
