Needed: Send Shortcut to (select folder here)
« on: February 26, 2007, 12:13 AM »
I could use a utility that would let me send a shortcut to anywhere I choose. Being able to add directories to send shortcuts to and choose them from a context menu would be too good to be true but immensely useful. If there's such a thing out there, I certainly can't find it.

Anyone here have any ideas?  :)

C:\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\SendTo

Maybe to create a shortcut on your desktop to this directory (hidden by default)?

To add directories to SendTo, just make a shortcut of that directory and move it to SendTo.

I believe you may have misunderstood. I don't want to move files. I want something I can send shortcuts to more than one location than just the desktop. For instance, I use a start menu replacement. It has a special folder that you can put shortcuts in etc. Now if I could send shortcuts to that directory or any other directories of my choice, I'd feel a lot more in control of my computer, not stuck with the arbitrary ways of Windows.

Every context menu should have "Send shortcut to Start (Start > Programs > Start)"  :up:

In DOpus, if you have two pane view enabled and have your target in one pane and your source (file or folder) in the other, right clicking on the source object and selecting "create shortcut":

[attachthumb=#1][/attachthumb]

places a shortcut in the target location:

[attachthumb=#2][/attachthumb]

I don't know if this works in other two pane file managers or not, though I suspect that it does...

there was a tool called called "Send to Any" but i couldn't find the web-site right-now.. another choice would be Send To Toys. i haven't tried it but the changelog looks promising..

What's New in version 2.5 (2/10/2007)

    * Added Send To "Default Mail Recipient"
    * Added Start Menu shortcut to configure Send To Toys
    * Send To "Folder...": Added create shortcuts mode, and added option to clear the recent folders history directly from the menu
    * Send To "Clipboard (as name)": Added options to sort the list of files, and to use the short file names
    * Send To "Recycle Bin": Added progress dialog during shredding of large files
    * Send To "Run...": Fixed bug with OK button not being enabled when the history is empty
    * Send To "Favorites": Fixed bug that would not show the "Add Favorite" dialog when adding more than one file
    * Full Unicode support
    * Fixed minor bugs
