Description
It's for capturing temporary screensnips. I made it because Snagit keeps crashing, and takes forever to load, on my Win 10 machine. ScreenSnip doesn't totally replace Snagit (and is not a replacement for Screenshot Captor), but it has most of the features that I use regularly. As indicated in the code and in the manual, the first version of ScreenSnip was based on FanaticGuru's Snipper app. It is also similar to KodeZwerg's Rapture Replica app. ScreenSnip is mostly AI code made by me and Claude.
Features
Briefly:
- Make temporary floating snips.
- OCR scanning using different methods. Optimized for accurate table extractions.
- Mark up and annotation tools.
- Send-to-Imgur module.
- Some built-in puzzles added for fun.

Planned Features
IDK... I add them as I think of them.

Usage
Installation
There's not really an installer, also I don't really do official "releases" on GitHub. It is a portable app. (1) Download the zip from GitHub, (2) Unzip it, (3) Double-click ScreenSnip.exe.
Using the Application
Confirm that the app is running by looking for the little blue scissor icon in your systray. Hold <Ctrl> and right-click-n-drag a portion of your screen. A floating snip appears. Click on that snip, then press <F1> or right-click it for options. Alternatively, double-press the <CapsLock> button.
Uninstallation
In the systray is an option to "Start with windows." If you've checkmarked that, be sure to uncheck it. Then choose "Exit" from the same menu.
Known Issues
As indicated in the User Manual, if ScreenSnip is not running in elevated (admin) mode itself, then it cannot snip screenshots of elevated applications. Trying to do so can cause capture mode to get stuck on, which is super annoying. Press <Esc> if this happens. Read more about it in the User Manual.
