Best way to cull old browser bookmarks?
« on: March 26, 2022, 01:20 PM »
I have hundreds (thousands?) of sites bookmarked in Chrome.   Whenever I go to cull out the ones I don't need anymore, I either get distracted or overwhelmed and give up.   I was thinking that it would be great if there was a tool that would let me delete all the ones that haven't been used in 2 years, or 1 year.   It would be good if I could even just delete all the ones that no longer point to anything valid.

Do you guys have any tips for this?

Maybe look at AM-DeadLink?
Freeware to detect dead links and redirections.
AM-DeadLink can check URLs for dead links and redirections from the following sources:

    Text files
    Tab delimited files
    CSV files
    HTML files
    Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox
    Brave, Vivaldi, Opera, IE

But note this:
Why bookmarks cannot be deleted directly in AM-DeadLink

Browser bookmarks should only be deleted within the browser user interface, not via external tools. Changing bookmark databases outside of the browser will be in conflict with various functions and will also produce side effects when synchronizing bookmarks between devices.

I use FF and tried Bookmarks clean up, to solve similar promlem of mine.
https://addons.mozil.../bookmarks-clean-up/

It did very good job of clean up. It does removes all broken and duplicate bookmarks. You have full control over it.

It also has chrome addon

You may try it.
