Using Arrow keys when selecting an area
« on: September 03, 2014, 12:25 PM »
Is there a way to use the arrow keys to adjust the cross hairs when selecting an area?  I like to use them to make fine (pixel by pixel) adjustments to the area being selected

Not when making the screenshot, but after opening the screenshot in the main window, you can select an area within the screenshot, and then use the arrow keys to adjust the selection:

  • hold the mouse near each edge of the selection
  • check the box showing enlargement of area around the mouse (see arrow in screenshot below)
  • use arrowkeys with qualifier keys - here's where my tutorial is weak: different qualifier keys (Alt, Shift, Control) affect different sides of the selection and I can never remember which is which, so I simply try them out - if they work good (if not be sure to reverse the action as you may have just adjusted the other side of the selection).

Ability to adjust by cursor location by pixel using cursor keys when performing a selected region capture will be in new version.

And very nice too!
Any chance of having an option to change the base values in the sizing tooltip (pixels/inches/cm, possibly)?

That is a nice idea, putting it on my todo list.
