FARR help needed!
« on: November 23, 2013, 01:10 AM »
Not sure if this has been discussed here but here's my problem:

I use a portable FARR that's on a USB Flash drive on my company's computer at work.
When I run the app, I have 9 items that I frequently use, listed in FARR's window.
These are files that I searched for and that's on my flash drive.

I then bring the flash drive and use it on my home computer.
In addition to the portable FARR that's on my flash drive, I also the full version of FARR installed on my C drive.
This is so that I can use FARR, when my flash drive is on the computer at work.

When I try to run FARR using the hot key Ctrl+Space bar, it shows me only five items in the window
that I searched for when using my home computer and not the nine items that show up on my work computer.
How do I get the same search items that show up on FARR window at my work computer, to show up on FARR window on my home computer?
Do I need to copy a file from my flash drive on to my home computer's FARR app on my C drive?

i hope I am making sense!
Grateful for help from the forum.
Thanks!

There are 2 ways to achieve what you want.

1. on your home computer stop the local FARR copy and start it from the USB, just like how you do at work, then you'll have exactly the same options
2. copy the configuration file(s) from the USB to your computer, the file that contains the last launched programs/files is called FindAndRunRobot_launchhistory.ini
NOTE : make sure FARR is stopped or the changed files will probably not be read by your local FARR.

Hope this helps.

P.S. there are a few more INI files in the FARR folder, as far as i can tell this is what each one contains :
FindAndRunRobot.ini - the settings for FARR
FindAndRunRobot_launchhistory.ini - the last launched programs/files
FindAndRunRobot_searchhistory.ini - what you have searched for (my file has 21 entries, so i suppose it saves all searches)
FindAndRunUserToolbar.ini - the buttons you added to the toolbar.

What verszipo said.  The FindAndRunRobot_launchhistory.ini has the list of last launched programs, so copying that from machine to machine (with or without the main settings) will let one machine have the same initial list of items when you bring up FARR.

ps.
It makes me really happy when a user takes the time to help another user with one of my programs.  Thank you verszipo
