Cool. I just installed and activated it. This should be useful especially with a drive that could go at any time!

I have shifted from Backup4all to Titan - it is a lot easier to understand how to use.

Thanks to Gizmo.

I forgot to tell about this yesterday:

We've just launched the Titan Backup Community, a place where you can learn new things, share your experience about data security and meet new interesting people:
http://www.titanbackup.com/community/

As the Community is still in Beta, please send us your comments, suggestions, or any bugs you discover. We're inviting you to join us and submit an article and you will receive a $80 gift ( 1 license of a-squared Anti-Malware 3.5 + 1 license of Titan Backup 2.3).

This offer is for the first 200 persons who will register and submit an article in one of the following categories: Titan Backup (with a special subcategory Titan Backup Stories where you can talk about your data backup scenario), Backup&Recovery, Firewalls, Antivirus, Malware, Hardware Security or Mobile Security.

The way you'll be getting your prize will be by sending us an email at info[at]titanbackup[dot]com that will contain the URL of the article, and the subject "Titan Backup Community Prize".

So I downloaded, installed, and activated Titan Backup from this offer but I still haven't ever used it.

I guess maybe because I don't have a spare drive to put my backups on, but... Maybe I just need some advice on a good way to use it?

There are a few nice threads about backuping. You could have a look at them, if you haven't yet.

e-mailed to me today:

Dear Titan Backup User,

When we've launched Titan Backup, we've made the backup process easier than ever. This winter Titan Backup is closer to you and your friends with a special offer.

You can receive $44 just by recommending Titan Backup:

   1. You recommend TB to two of your friends, colleagues or family members

   2. They will get it for just $29.95 (regular price $39.95) using this link:

   http://www.regnow.com/softsell/nph-softsell.cgi?item=7810-8&ss_coupon=NEOB-J3J7

   3. You receive from us $44

After your friends buy Titan Backup you have to send us a message at [email protected] with their names, email addresses and your PayPal info (this is how you will receive the money from us).

Terms & Conditions

Your friends must buy Titan Backup using only the special link mentioned above.
Each person is eligible for a maximum of 5 prizes (total of $220).

Best regards

Your friends from Titan Backup,

Neobyte Solutions,
Boerderijstraat 30, 8500 Kortrijk, Belgium
http://www.titanbackup.com

I find this to be a problem. Because if tghey really are my friends, which they seem to have to be, well, Maybe they won't stay my friends, when they hear about my scam? I mean, if you go to the link Shades is displaying, you will see this:

Titan Backup: Special Promotional Offer
Tue, 06/17/2008 - 22:57 — gizmo.richards

Sorry - the free offer has now expired! However Titan is now offering our site visitors the full product for $15 rather than $40.  This is a really sharp price made possible by Titan's generosity and the fact that this site  takes no commission. Full details here:

http://www.regnow.co...;ss_coupon=NEOB-PTM0

Why would I want my friends to pay twice the price, if they really are my friends?  :tellme:

- problem solved, so to speak. Titan Backup has officially died and been replaced by GFI.

read https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=18395.0

Dear Titan Backup user,

We would like to inform you of some important changes to Titan Backup.

GFI Software has been working with Titan for some time and has made significant investments in the technology, which it has now re-launched under GFI. GFI will continue making major investments in this technology.

We would like to inform you that GFI Backup 2009 – Home Edition has now been launched. This version is being offered as full-featured FREEWARE for PC home users.

GFI Backup has retained all the functionality you are accustomed to in Titan Backup and also includes additional feature and improvements*. We invite you to try out GFI Backup 2009 – Home Edition, which you can download from: http://www.gfi.com/backup-hm.

Please note that you cannot back up with the Titan Backup version and restore with the GFI version. Also, you cannot import your settings from Titan Backup to GFI Backup, as there have been major changes to the configuration file formats.

You therefore need to install GFI Backup and reconfigure, as follows: Download and use GFI Backup 2009 – Home Edition, and run a new back up of your existing files, re-creating your backup and synchronization tasks as needed. We highly recommend this option.

Alternatively, if you choose to back up with your Titan Backup product or you need to restore your files so they can then be backed up with GFI Backup you can:
Point    manually restore files backed up with the Titan Backup product; or
Point    use the latest build of the Titan Backup product (v2.5.0.117); to get this version, please email [email protected] – it is not available on the GFI website.
Both Titan Backup and GFI Backup can be installed on the same machine.

There will be no further development of the Titan Backup product. GFI Backup replaces this product and we will only enhance and maintain the GFI Backup product.

For support issues related to GFI Backup – Home Edition, please visit our support forums.

You can find more information about GFI Backup 2009 and other GFI products on our website: http://www.gfi.com/.

Thank you,
The GFI Software team

Support forum: http://forums.gfi.com/

*= Additional functionality offered by GFI Backup 2009 – Home Edition:
Point    No need to be logged on to the machine for the backups to take place
Point    Improved memory management
Point    Improved logging mechanism, status product messaging and task view
Point    On-demand check for product updates from GFI
Point    Support for Windows 7 RC build 7100
Point    Enhanced execution speed for tasks that include many files
Point    Single plug-in restore options
Point    Internationalization support for custom time and date formats.
