[Bug report] Bad core-aliases
« on: January 19, 2008, 11:24 PM »
Was way to bored tonight and went trough the core aliases after finding that the built-in Torrentz search was broken to simply check what else had been updated/changed to brake the functionality.

No results:
Torrent - Torrentz (looked like a minor change in their seach code)
Music - Ubl (too lazy/tired to check as its...way to late/early at the moment)
Lookup - Brainboost (see above)

Other:
Music - AMG
Got errors using the AMG aliases but as one came through (artist) after a while of waiting it might be due to the page rather then a bad alias.
News - BBCNews/BBC
The search string is different for both but it still produce the same results. Should both be there or did I miss the point in having two different BBC-aliases?

Nothing big and maybe nothing wrong other then on my machine (as my computer basicly is the most evil thing since...well ever) but wanted to help out with something. Also did a quick check to see if any of these had been reported before but didnt find anything but sorry if its old news.

Thanks for the report -- and keep 'em coming.. i'm guessing that a few of the web-based aliases need updating.

News - BBCNews/BBC

it's just the change in the search links, that's the reason some of the aliases are prefixed with "Core". in the event of any changes, a Farr update should be able to rectify the problem with the new links. isn't that so, mouser?

as for the difference, one is for BBC Sports and News and the other is for All of BBC. click on both to see the difference. btw, here are the new links to the BBC search query. i don't use the others that much so i'm not sure..

ok, i had some free time so here goes..

Torrent - Torrentz - link changed; new link: http://www.torrentz.com/search?q=
Lookup - Brainboost - Brainboost was acquired by Answers Corporation in Dec.2005
Music - Ubl - once again restructuring by parent company, Artistdirect, Inc.
Music - AMG - has different options for artist, album or song search. the existing alias didn't differentiate between the 1st two but it's fixed now.

the new AMG links for artist, album and song (in that order):

http://www.allmusic....&opt1=2&sql=
http://www.allmusic....&opt1=3&sql=

Ok, i've fixed the ones lanux mentioned. See attachment.

PS: i suppose brainboost and ubl were to be removed. I commented those 2 entries.

Oh... Oops. To edit them, you just go into the folder and edit the .xml. Or ou move them from "installed" to "mycustom" and then edit them from farr.

I'll try to fix those in a few days.

you're welcome jgpaiva. :) btw, why does music alias contains ^music (.+) while the others are formatted this way: ^search (.*). any particular reason?

I have no idea :)

But probably it makes more sense to have the ^music (.*)$ alternative...
