NANY 2018 Release: Image Card Printer
« on: November 29, 2017, 12:18 PM »
For NANY 2018 I would like to introduce you to "Image Card Printer" a windows desktop app designed to help you print lots of images on card (or business card) stock.

It's based heavily on code from my older Flipbook Printer and FlipSuite programs, but just simplifies the user interface.

The purpose of this program is to help you print out a bunch of images on business card or playing card stock.

I have used this myself to prototype card games or create accessory cards for some board games, etc.

Hope it's useful to someone!

Nicely done!  I've enclosed links to a couple of designers I remember offhand so perhaps you'll see a feature that you want to include.

https://ccg-maker.informer.com/ (the original domain is over it's bandwidth for the month - http://www.ccgmaker.com/)
http://magicseteditor.sourceforge.net/

http://deckromancy.com/

And one that does the same thing as yours- but only for D&D feat cards.

Very useful, thank you!
I will put these in the help file under related programs as well.

I checked out the links above.  Let me make some brief comments about where my program fits in.

Most(all?) of the links from wraith are pretty fancy tools for creating cards for certain games, with images, stats, and lots of text.

My program is purely for laying out large numbers of image files very precisely to fit card stock paper for printing.  You can customize the details of the card stock and save templates, so it can be used to print on playing card punch-out paper, or business card paper, etc.

My program has no features for creating nice layouts with text and stats, etc.  It's just for taking a large collection of images and laying them out precisely for printing, with a few options for how the images are resized, etc., and then doing the actual printing.

While it has a few extra features, like things to help you align the card stock, you can see that it's focus is very limited.

Note: I also have an older set of open source python utilities for making/prototyping custom playing cards programmatically: https://www.donation...ser/pythonprotocards

Totally agreed... thats why I called them designers.  The only one that does things similar to what you're doing is the last one, and that's only for a limited card set (D&D Feats).  Just thought you might be able to mine them for some features and perhaps reference them for tools to create the actual images.

Looks interesting, Mouser!  I'll be glad to try it out.  Maybe it's useful to print passport id photos, too.
Maybe I'll use it for my Fungus Attacks boardgame (based on the old Fungus Game that I can't get anyone to make a computer game out of).

Does exactly what it says it will do.  Truly, truly appreciate the portable version!
