I've been putting off again and again making screencast demos of my programs.. I know it would be a useful thing to have a bunch of short demos showing how to do certain things and what features are available, etc. So I've come up with an idea to force me to finally make these screencasts, and that is to pledge to release one per day, every day, in the month of August. Every day next month I will release another short screencast for one of my programs, 30 in total by the end of the month.
I'd like to also invite the other coders here to join me by pledging to release screencasts of your software programs as well. There are plenty of free and commercial screencasting tools, so you have no excuse not to do it. And it would also be nice if we could find someone who was willing to take on the challenge of making a screencast of a different skrommel utility each day. EDIT: I have started posting the screencasts in a special area to make it easy to follow: http://www.donationcoder.com/3ds/

I don't know which is more impressive: the fact that you're going to do 30 screencasts of your apps; or the fact that you've written 30 applications to do screencasts of. We are not worthy, we are not worthy...

the fact that you've written 30 applications to do screencasts of. while skrommel can lay claim to that accomplishment -- i cannot. i will be making 30 different screencasts demonstrating different features of only a few big programs (FARR, LBC, SC, maybe one or two more).
regardless.. please give that girl my phone number

Mouser, thanks for doing this screencast series.
I'm having problems viewing them. They stop at random places and I have to start over again. I don't think I've gotten one to play all the way through. Its not your fault, its my old equipment. I'm using an old Gateway computer with Ubuntu as my primary OS and Win XP as a secondary. The equipment just can't handle online video, from any source, very well.
Would you allow your screencasts to be downloaded? If I can play them from my own machine, they will probably play through to the end.

Maybe URLSnooper can be used for this? If you don't know how to use URLSnooper, first let mouser make a screencast for it... oh, right....

Awesome stuff so far - beginning at the basic stuff, but still I am learning things.
One thought: Is it possible to have a next video or collection of thumbnails at the bottom of the screencast pages to facilitate the watching of a series of videos without bobbing back and forth to the forum page?

I am amazed at such a fast response. I'm sorry I didn't check back sooner. My only excuse is some long work days.
You Tube worked for me very well. I have never been very good at reading instructions or help files, but your videos got me hooked on learning more about your program.
I will look into URLSnooper this weekend and give it a try also.
Thank you Mouser and TucknDar
