Simple automatic hyperlinks in your posts
(1/1)
mouser:
When you want to hyperlink a word or phrase in your post you normally select the text and hit the URL button (looks like globe) which surrounds your text with [url]TEXT[/url] tags.
If your text is a url like www.cnn.com then you are done.
If not you normally need to edit the tags to say for example:
click [url=http://www.cnn.com]here[/url] to visit cnn.
I've just made a small change so that if you dont put the = part it will link to a search for the item.
This is especially useful if you want to tell someone about some piece of software but you are too lazy to provide a link to it. For example:
* "Check out [url]ccleaner[/url]" will result in: Check out http://ccleaner.
It's also useful if you want to tell someone to search for something, e.g.:
* "Search for [url]accelerated c++[/url]" results in: Search for http://accelerated c++.
I hope this will encourage people to put links to items when they post lists of programs they use etc.

That is a good idea!
What about doing a site specific search? For example: CCleaner which should display all CCleaner references on DonationCoder?
Then again, I suppose you could do that through the Forum Search anyway???
