According to Savenetradio.org, the real deadline for saving internet radio is upon us... NOW.

An appeals court has blocked an emergency stay, and that means that soon, (Saturday, according to the ticking clock on the website…) most internet radio streams will go off the air. Amazing how the web is being shutdown piece-by-piece by politicians and corporations. In America, you'd be stunned how little lobbying money it takes to buy off a politician.

I'm pissed.

What is required is a 'real' radio and TV response banning all new songs from broadcast. If that were allied with DRMed music distributors refusing to take new releases ...

If they don't get new tracks aired they can't promote/sell them and would soon climb down.

If this is over the Copyright Royalty Board increases, it will only serve to drive internet radio stations out of the US. The scope of this law only affects broadcasters within the US borders. They have no legal jurisdiction to pass laws affecting broadcasters in any other country.

This will drive many of the broadcasters to 'officially' set up shop in another country, such as Canada and Mexico, where this law applies to nobody.

Do you realize that there's no way you could start a public library (in the US) today? No corporation would allow it. Maybe they should sue the Library of Congress for letting people listen to recordings more than once without paying for them!

With July 15th just two days away, everybody was left to assume that Internet Radio wouldn’t be around come Sunday.
