Hello and Good Day. I bought a new PC with Windows Vista and installed a LaCie drive; Now the LaCie ICON is MISSING. How can I get the icon back??
I followed the steps on the Lacie website (" To change the drive icon:
# Do “Get Info” (command i) on both the hard drive and the icon file.
# The icon for each will show in the upper left corner of the “Get Info” window.) but that doesn't work. (Command i ???).  :(
I think they wrote it for Windows XP.
Who can help me pls?
Thanks from PiterPaulus.

I'm not sure if this is the case, but it might happen that the system icons cache was currupted somehow.
I found this program on the web: http://www.filedudes.com/RefreshEm-download-25312.html
You may have noticed that sometimes the Desktop and Windows Explorer start to display the wrong Icons for some file types. Running RefreshEm when they do repairs the Windows Icon Cache so that the proper ones are immediately displayed.

Disclaimer: i've never tried it, and am not sure if it's related to your problem, it's just what i'd do if i had a similar problem.

GoodDay, Thanks for your answer and help. I downloaded and installed this program. As far as I know, after installing nothing has changed with the (wrong/missing) icon. But sometimes when I start-up the computer the next day things suddenly got that better. Strange?! Maybe. I hope so. If *yes* I surely let you know. Greetings from PitrPaulus.

Hello and Good Day. I'v got the answer, from a Dutch Forum, called 'Nucia'.
To inform you about this I will TRY to translate the Dutch answer, that solved the problem, in English:

I changed something in the autorun.inf root of the LaCie disk. (And that guy made for me the blue LaCie icon with the .ico extension, that I dropped in the root of LaCie).

In the root was:
[Autorun]
open=.\MigWiz\migsetup.exe
icon=.\MigWiz\migsetup.exe
action=@.\MigWiz\nl-NL\migsetup.exe.mui,-109

And I changed it to:

[Autorun]
open=.\MigWiz\migsetup.exe
icon= lacie.ico
action=@.\MigWiz\nl-NL\migsetup.exe.mui,-109

Not complicated but to find exactly THIS solution was a long, long way....

I hope that it is quite clear now. The problem is solved over here.

Thanks for help and thinking. Greetings from Holland! PitrPaulus.
