Download file name
« on: February 19, 2007, 07:21 AM »
Hello Mouser,

would it be possible to include the version number within the filename of each release?
My problem is that I sit behind a proxy server which has a very long term cache.

I just downloaded the new version of screenshot captor and after (!) installing it, I recognized that I downloaded the old version again. "My" proxy server just fetched the old version out of its cache :-(

This wouldn't be occure if the filenames of the download files were unique.

Would be nice if you could do that for the further releases.

Many thanks,

Torsten

im sort of inclined to agree with you that version numbers in downloads are useful... however it poses a major problem for the online listing sites which send people to a fixed download url.  there are ways around it but they are a huge pain.

I thought proxy servers would check for a non-modified message before giving the old object to the user..That's just idiot  :-\
